Hey Gary, how about a wine from the littlest state with the OLDEST vineyard in New England, Sakonnet Vineyards (http://www.sakonnetwine.com). They produce some interesting varieties and it would be interesting to see what you think about the Ocean State’s offerings! Love the show as usual and I’m pretty upset I’ve missed every opportunity for a 4th Generation EVERY TIME, including BOSTON!

Holy Shiz. My wife and I went to MD circa 1995 and stopped by Basignani on Robert Parker’s suggestion and were blown away by their Cabernet Sauvignon. It was unfiltered, lots of sediment, and tasted like a grilled Porto Bello mushroom and we loved it. So I was disappointed to hear the 2005 was…sucky.
The Linden tastes like a CAVE? Laughed out loud. Lots of love.

Oh forgot…If you have the chance, try a newer NJ winery – Cava Winery. Surprisingly good reds. Seriously. No, really.

Linden also does a “Hardscrabble Chardonnay” that is outstanding. A buddy of mine who is now the West Coast manager for Neal Rosenthal wrote the following tasting note on Cellartracker about the ’99

“WOW. This has to be up there with the all-time great ringer performances I’ve witnessed… A $20-ish,1999 Chardonnay – from Virginia – inserted into a flight of 1er Cru white Burgundy, and it’s picked by the group as one of the top two wines in the flight… Again, this shows the value of blind tasting. TN: Intense citrus (lime / lemon zest), yellow fruit, custard. In the mouth, fairly pronounced acidity up front, tailing to a nice finish. Bright, fresh and balanced. The group consensus: Puligny-Montrachet… Not surprisingly, we could not stop talking about this one for the rest of the evening. I need to go see this local vineyard and congratulate the winemaker.”

Have you come across any wines from Alaska? And if you did, did it smell like petro or salmon?

Never had an Iowa wine that I found worthy of a Thunder Show evaluation.

I sent an email to a few Nebraska wineries and asked them to consider sending in a wine (and a T-Shirt). Hopefully you will receive something soon.

Anyone know of any wine tasting groups in eastern Nebraska?
