Gary I have always like wine but you’re turning me into a quote “wine guy”… I paused half way through this video to go grab some sparkling fruity wine. Its a blush white wine with rasberry, strawberry, and blackberry.

Interesting and fun show (I’m worn out—high octane DUAL energy)! I’d drink up all my investments, though!

Great show, though it went on far too long at twice the normal running
time. Thinking about wine as an investment puts a very different spin
on it, and this was educational as well as entertaining.

For anyone who has the patience for it, storing and aging wines can be a
great investment whether your intention is to drink it or sell it.
Think of the satisfaction of drinking a bottle from your own cellar that
has gained in harmony and complexity over the years, then comparing the
price you paid against the current market value.

Maybe if I didn’t enjoy drinking my wine so much I’d have more money to invest in profitable wine, but I kind of like things the way they are.
    fun show.

Only 365+ comments at this time? This was an awesome show. Nice work Gary.

Jim is thought of as over the top in his show. You are thought of as over the top in your show. But together, this really worked. Amazing.

Nice work getting information out there and not just playing around.

Classic show, deserves to go to the right of the page with the winter show and the pal’ training show. (as I see you have done.)

  • I think the best wine to short would be any from the brand new vineyard that opened up a few miles from my house called ledgestone vineyard. They are a bunch of jerks, and give the wine world a bad image. I’m sure their wine can only go down in value.

  • I’m a little bit at a loss. Jim is intense. Entertaining show, but I don’t buy wine for investment purposes so I’ll have to cogitate on this one.

    Good show!
I have only drank the Dow’s.
Would love to try the Latour.

Wines to short – Cali Cabs! Over-priced and the quality is not always there.

  • Jim is awesome. You two made a great pairing – You should have him back more.

I haven’t purchased wine as investment yet. I have purchased because of recommendations with the intention of enjoyment with Friends and family. As my PAL grows up maybe i will take it a little more seriously and invest in some “investment” wines.

That was a FANTASTIC show! There was so much THUNDER it was frightening (but in a good way). Definitely have Jim back on, Gary. Priceless.

QOTD: I’ll give you the good and the bad. I bought some 1996 Chappottier Hermitage back in 1999 that I sold at 5X the purchase price last year (that would be good). I overpaid for some Shafer Hillside Select in 2001 and last year tried to sell it and only got about 35% return. Ick! But I wouldn’t even consider speculating on California wines anymore.

    Great Show!

QOTD: I would say Cali Pinots (the ones that slyly add Petit Syrah or something else to pump them up) I would HOPE people get that soon. I think they’re starting to.

That was one of my favorite episodes (and I have watched most). The chemistry is definately there between Gary and Jim.

I also loved to see some of the business side of Gary, and proof of his knowledge of the business side of wine. I respect his opinions even more now.

QOTD: California Pinot has to fall out of favor sometime (but who knows when).
