QOTD: I had a Coppola Merlot and a 2005 Geyser Peak Cab, unfortunately I couldn’t do them any reviewing justice looking back over a week ago.

QOTD: Quails Gate dry Riesling and Gray Monk unwooded Chardonnay both from Okanagan Valley, Canada and both pretty good.

Dom Perignon 1990 and Haut-Brion 1985 to accompany beef bourg and choc Gran Marn souffles. Decadent as it was, the Dom was very delicate and had tiny bubbles so not as lively or delicious as I had hoped but think the sinus/cold/bug had kicked in. Haut-Brion was balanced and held up well but didn’t knock me out. My expectations were simply too great for these special wines. Closed night out with Quinta de Crasto 2003 which was terrific and is an outstanding value in Vintage Port.

I definitely need to try the gewurztraminer – sounds epic.

QOTD: too many to list them all.. but the favourites were:
    – NV Gremillet Champagne (really dry and crisp, top value for money)
    – 2002 Michel Gros Vosne RomanΓ©e 1er Cru Aux BrulΓ©es (one of the best wines I've ever had – absolutely excellent pinot noir)

Myself, mother and brother will be attending Christmas dinner at my girlfriends parents house. For my girlfriend and I this is our first Christmas together and first time our families will meet, what kind of house warming gift do I bring? Wine is good… but I know there is much more then wine out there.
