nice episode but Sir GaryV could have made an appearance in that setting! way to talk corks from old bottles – don’t sniff them but do look them over thoroughly.

QotD: 1978 Latour – had it twice and both bottles memorable.

I’m very late with answering this but last year I was fortunate enough to attend an incredible tasting where I had the pleasure of tasting a 1945 Ch. Talbot… What a stunning example of aged Bordeaux and a pleasure to taste… Oh, and the 82 Mouton, Haut Brion, and Cos weren’t bad either.

The last few shows from Bordeaux have been entertaining, but whatever happened to the focus on QPR of your earlier shows? $300 is way too much for a bottle of wine, no matter how good it is.

Loving the on-site shows!!! Great stuff.

QOTD – Never, not sure where to buy stuff like that. You have a good point about buying them properly. Could be really fun to try though.

Well done on the taping Ian!

    QOTD:

1975 Leoville Las Cases. Popped this when my wife turned 30 in ’05. My first experience with old Bordeaux, and it didn’t disappoint.

The last few shows have been great. Very informative.

That has to be the 1975 Langoa Barton. It was absolutely beautiful five years ago – all the tannin had melted away and there was just soft soft fruit – absolutely delicious.

I also had the 1966 Langoa, but not as good – looking a little tired.
    Cheers,

Another fun episode and great entertainment listening to Ian in the background: “It’s not my fault!” – Priceless!!

QOTD: I had a 1982 Leoville Poyferre that was probably the best older Bordeaux I’ve ever had. It was fabulous (I scored it 95 points).

    way cooler than ohio wines
qotd – i have had a few older bordeaux, but not too many. i just got in this game a few years back.
i had a 91 phelan segur, considering the vintage, it was real good. nothing crazy but well done. an 89 la tour martillac red. it was delicious. this was last year and the tannins were still hanging in there. it has another 5 years in it. some older burgs too… 82 and 89 were telling me, store wine in your cellar.

QOTD: 1983 Chateau Cantenac Brown (Margaux) is the best that I’ve had. I bought it in Morristown, NJ in ’85 for $11 bones and drank it in ’96.

Sweet show. QOTD: I’ve had very few. I had a 86′ Chambert Marzubet which was just a special experience noting the changes in flavor over the first couple hours it was opened.
