  • Maybe that should have been Lachaim! Anyway, I’ve had some excellent Israeli wine on my visits to that country – although they’re not so easy to buy in the U.K.

I’ve heard of Flam before, but not the other 3.

QOTD – Agur Special Reserve 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, look out for this boutique winery, I believe they export to the U.S.

I brought kosher wines from Italy to the Passover Seder. Maybe I’ll bring non-kosher Israeli wine to a non-holiday gathering. An idea!

  • Haven’t had an Israeli wine yet…or that I can remember. Have had some good experiences with kosher wine though. The Goose Bay SB was particularly exciting. I will look for some wines from this region soon!

Ahead of Ohio? Whoa! QOTD It’s been many years since I’ve had an Israeli wine of any kind

QOTD….Never had one, but would love to try once the local retailer installs am Israeli section. Illinois doesn’t let me buy from you anymore Gary. Lemme know if you need a business partner out here to set up shop and help you circumvent our state laws.

  • QOTD: best so far from isreal was the 2003 Tishbi Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Very heavy, ripe and intense, flavours reminding of portwine.

Lots of great wine from Israel – kosher and not kosher. Kosher isn’t a country and shouldn’t be a determinant in the wine you drink (unless you’re Jewish).

glad to see you covering Israeli wine as I do at HaKerem: The Israeli Wine Blog – http://www.israeli-wine.org

Wines from Ohio? Israel? Really? There aren’t enough readily available, good(even great) wines that you haven’t yet tasted for us? Have to say I didn’t even watch this one. Please, Gary, keep the offbeat wines to a minimum, and concentrate on the good stuff that we want to know about.

QOTD: The kosher Israeli Riesling at the Passover seder was not bad (don’t recall who made it). The reds were at the other end of the table therefore I bellied up to the white. We had a variety of Israeli and Italian kosher wines at the seder.

Outside of any holidays, I lean toward non-kosher wines from France, Italy, Spain, CA, OR, …………..

When a wine review begins with “well made”, it usually ends with a VaynerPAZZZ.

Lets not get too crazy saying that Israel wines are better than Ohio wines. From what I saw you only had three wineries from Ohio and they were all from the same area. Ohio has several different soil regions. Ok stood up for my boys glad to hear Israel’s wines are good going to luck at the site so knidly linked up by Mott in a sec. to check them out.

QOTD: Never had one, and don’t really know when I will, in all fairness I’m still new to wine, and still never had a french or Italian, or Australian wine yet either. So when the opportunity arises I guess.

Totally forgot to answer the QOTD – I live in Israel and have lots of great Israeli wines.

Few weeks ago had some great Saslove, Avidan, and Agur — all non-kosher producers.
Just had a great Yarden Gewutzraminer on Friday. On Thursday did a tasting of Israeli 2003 Cabernet Sauvignons – Recanati Reserve, Yarden El Rom, Segal’s Special Reserve/Marom Galil thanks to an earlier WLTV episode, Benyamina, Carmel Kayumi Vineyard, and much more!

Israeli wine is great and I’m passionate about this emerging eastern mediterranean wine world.

Good topic choice, this looks good!
