Also, ridiculousy blow your head off PS is by Robert Foley, of Pride Mountain Vineyard fame. Best everyday PS is Vinum Cellars Pets, another dawg pound wine.
Take THAT, lite beer drinking football fans.

I had a bottle of Petit Petit last week which was a blend of Petite Syrah and Petit Verdot. It had an entertaining label with two Elephants facing you on the label and their backsides to you an the back. Sort of a Bigtop circus theme and the capsule was Red and White striped. The wine was excellent and fruit forward with some acid balance and a little spice thrown in. It cost about $27 and was a serious wine even if the label was all in fun.

I believe Petite Syrah (Durif) is the offspring of Syrah and Peloursin. The California vines are usually quite old and will have some field blend effects with Syrah and Peloursin and Carignan growing together with Petite Syrah.

I must try the Rosenblum now that you’ve brought it to my attention. I love their “Rockpile” wines.

  • Hi Gary,

Have you tried a Petite Sirah from Mexico?. The Petite Sirah of L.A. Cetto is the best that you can find (in Mexico). Try it if you have the opportunity

QOTD: Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet and Savignon Blanc fron New Zealand

Need to figure out a way to exchange wristbands. I went a little crazy with my WL orders a few months ago and have a lot of Gen 3 wb’s. Would be willing to mail them to anyone who wants to trade for a Gen 1 or Gen 4 wristband.

  • Humm… Polish sausage?? You mean Kielbasa right? Or as us Pollock’s say… Kabasy!!!! Hey….I’m 1/2 Polish if you didn’t know. Or Slovoc…. how ever you want to look at it.

    I have Gen 2,3 & 4….. Need a #1

I’m drinking a lot of zins, pinots and syrahs. Gainey Syrah is a favorite, Turley and Neyers zin, and Sea Smoke and Pisoni. Loring is another favorite.

What do you drink when you are home G man…???

  • The only Petite Sirah I have had is the Michael-David Petite Petit which is 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Petit Verdot. I like that quite a bit. I will look for the Rosenblum in my LWSs.
QOTD: I am at this moment drinking iced coffee. Oh, you mean WINE. Well, this evening I will be having 3 different Hugel wines from the Alsace.

Not one thing, but it’s getting realtively cooler in NYC, so I’m starting drink CA Rhone style wines.

QOTD: What am I drinking? WOW that could be a long answer my favorite
in the past week has been…2006 Domaine Chignard Fleurie “Les Moriers”
Had at Vayniac party where 3 couples drank 8 bottles of wine!! Do the
    math. Great time.

Has an aromatic nose like HI-C fruit punch.. and smooth an silky fruity
    strawberry jam taste.

  • Jered

I have recently visited quite a few wineries, breweries and tastings so I have been drinking quite a variety. Imagery winery in the sonoma valley hit my PAL square with really interesting varieties you don’t see everywhere.

I also homebrew beer and mead so my own brand is dominating my mouth quite a bit. There is nothing like a beverage you have customized to your own taste and my PAL likes being beaten into submission with gigantic flavors.

  • The Lurk Monster

Coor light last night…. I apologize to myself

  • Rolf Rupprecht

Well in the summer time I am switching from German style Hefeweisbier, to lighter red wines like a chianti but enjoy a Savignon blanc or a Riesling with grilled fish.

Great show Gary, I don’t think I have spent much time wth PS, but I am excited to try it again!! I also liked the bit of education on the grape itself – feel free to do more of that!! Really good show.

QOTD: I have fallen back into Tempranillo and Grenache for a bit. Argentina is rocking my world right now!! I have to admit that I am looking around to see where I am going next, I am ready for a change.

QOTD – Edenvale Pinot Noir, William James Chardonnay, Albarinos & Sav Blanc

I remember the Foppiano PS used to be a lot better, about 12 years ago

I have the original wristband, no other versions!

  • Carlitos

    I have the original writband.

QOTD. Ah, so many wines, so little space. A bit of everything. More whites and roses than I used to. Some Muscadets, Bordeaux rose, white Rhones… Mixing it up a bit.

I hope your “Thank you” section improves going forward. Today’s kind of implied that whoever’s left in Bielorus only has two options, to either die or go to jail, which I find a bit offensive. Maybe you can think ahead what you want to say or how you want to say it.

  • Robert C from Prison

Yes, I be sporting my first gen wrist band, actually my foot & a half tall vintage 1960’s Lowenbrau Lion wares it in my office.

Petite you say, found a gem from Lodi Ca of all places. Lodi generally produces over the top fruit bombs in my taste, but the 2006 Inheritance is very impressive at 11.99 found at Trader Joes.
Polished chocolate, Mocha & black fruit with a good backbone. I generally cannot find many wines at Traders that impress me, but this rocked my socks off & all my friends.
Bottle package looks like $$ Cali cult wine, not that makes a diff, but I definitly feel the wine lives up to the $$ package.

QOTD- I’ve been drinking Rhone and Spanish blends – I got a wine from your shop called Caracol Serrano Jumilla. Monstrell (60%) Cabernet Sauvignon(20%) and Syrah(20%) for seven bones this is a solid wine. I am getting ready tonight to crack open a Gigondas after work. It’s decanting now.

Got a couple bottles at the house I’m eager to try. My mom brought me an 05 Bordeaux from her trip to France and I also have a white made in Wisconsin that I haven’t had before.

  • QTOD: I have really been enjoying Chilean sauv’s and chard’s. I just find them to have so much flavour and balance for their price point.
