    Great show Gary!
QOTD: I’m drinking a lot of white wines lately. Specially Rhone varietals from califoria. I really like them and they expanded my palate a lot.

GREAT SHOW! But, Gary, you have had the Rosenblum Heritage Clone’s Petite Sirah before. I think you scored the last vintage an 89+, or something.

QOTD: I am ADDICTED to Marlborough whites right now – the freshness, the acid, the length. I am also loving ’04 Sonoma Cabs – the fruit is so pure (Arrowood, HIghland Hawkeye from KJ, etc.) and the tannins are ripping and well placed. I am loving Central Coast and Sonoma Pinots, and also keeping up with all of the CA Rhone stuff I will always love.

It would be good to see some Aussie Durifs find their way onto the tasting table (Durif is the same as Petit Syrah???)

QOTD: I just had a great Irish Red beer at Taps in Brea, CA.

And I am looking forward to going to The Loft at the Montage in Laguna Beach for my sister’s birthday on Friday. Tons of great wine and an amazing sommelier, (a different) Gary. He’s the man!

Gary, you should do an episode with a cool master sommelier where you two can just jive off each other. I think that would make a great show.

  • Ben Janssen South Australia

As an Australian I am surprised we don’t grow more Petite Sirah. Australian prefer the more fruity ‘fluffier’ and bigger and bolder oaky Shiraz instead of Big tannic Petite Sirah. I am sure it’s turn will come.

water…mmmm! And just tried my first wine from India: a Chenin Blanc made by an Italian. Awkward but was a good experience and had some hints of potential.

QOTD: What am I drinking? With wine it is a wine that is only available in Canada called Unity. What I am drinking in general, I find myself addicted lately to Stuarts root beer or scary enough Vitamin Water (XXX Flavour – Acai, Pomegranate, Blueberry)

QOTD: Right now I am drinking 2002 Souverain Mourvèdre. Just came back from Alexander Valley and brought a case of this back with me. I enjoyed it so much that it was my first “case” purchase I’ve ever made. (and I even lugged it back home to NJ!) It was a fluke that they even produced Mourvèdre in 2002… the wrong grape was dropped off to the winery but they decided to produce a small amount anyway, and apparently over the summer they were cleaning out the cellars due to the fact that they are changing the label on their wine and found a few cases of this varietal. I thought that was pretty neat and for me brought the thunder!

Nice show. I love Petite Sirah. It’s nice to see shows with some of the great lesser known varietals.

I’ve been drinking a lot of tea lately, mostly jasmine oolongs, which have grown on me. Was my goal to replace all my caffeine sources with tea, so I’ve kicked the coffee and soda habits and moved to tea. I feel great and love the taste!

  • Its been a while since I’ve left a comment, but today I felt the need.

I have all four generations of wristbands. I actually got so many of the 3rd gen that I’ve started regifting them to friends that have started watching the show.

QOTD: My wife has been reading a lot of health books lately and found a bottle of N.S.A. Cabernet from Washington state that is organic and has no sulfites added. I popped and poured it last night and it was really young. I’m excited to try it again tonight after decanting.

Thanks Gary and the WLTV staff for a great show.
