Great couple of episodes, Gary. If you’re in Washington, I also would recommend Merlot from the Canoe Ridge area. Good stuff all around. Horse Heaven (rhymes with seven?)Hills is definitely a great area for wine as well.

Ive been lurking for a while, but have been keeping up still, everyday. Just thought I’d drop a line or two and say what up. Oh yeah, what you said about Katie C and Oprah W was classic. Totally agree.

P.S. Merlot is kick ass 🙂

Oh yeah, another thing, I think you should run your show the way you have ran it for the past 565 episodes. So screw what the haters think. I don’t want your character to be influenced by people who critique a wine video blog. Keep it original, and keep it YOU

    Gary,

Great ending! You enjoy doing the show, and joy is contagious.

Thanks for the Merlot episode – I’ve poopooed Merlot for sometimes because I had too many over-oaked Merlots upon first getting into wine. Will make an effort to enjoy a Merlot over the next few weeks.

If someone brought a merlot to my house I would try it. The chalk is somewhat off-putting.

Thanks for the wristband. I’m using it to cushion my heel as I have a little problem with plantar fasciitis.

  • No QOTD today?
-I have been having a rather distant relationship with Merlot ever since I started drinking win, and although I have tasted some pretty good wines, it has been until recently that I have been trying hard to appreciated it more, since most restaurants here carry merlots by the glass.

Sad to hear you’re no longer with Rev3. I guess they need to shape up and probably will ask you back. No worries.

Cool episode Gary, way to represent Merlot in the face of Pinot Noir media madness!!

Just to let you know, in the links section you have the Bravante mislabelled as the Gaudou from a few episodes back! The tag is right though (^_-)

    No QOTD today huh? (- -);;

    Hi Gary,

I didn’t have a problem with last episode with Randski – pretty funny with the bottles in front of him! He seemed quite a softly spoken kind of guy compared to other guests.

I’m gonna have a look for some Merlots tonight. It seemed always on the cards that the last wine would never match the Mercer!

Oh and QOTD: Where was the QOTD? Do you like Merlot?…I do now!

What a funny episode. The dirty construction hands that can’t get clean cracked me up!

  • woohoo Washington! I really started loving wine after finding some Washington merlots that were super affordable (check out Sockeye merlot for $8 or less on sale or also Red Diamond) back in 2002. Since then, I’ve “expanded my palate” and tried to taste through wines from every region, finding favorites in Burgundy and Bordeaux. Still, wines from Washington continue to be a great value as they don’t contain the magic four letters N.A.P.A. I’m convinced it costs at least two dollars per letter to print that word on a bottle. Not, hating, just being real. (did anyone else hear about fake Napa wines showing up in China?)

I’m very sensitive to oak, i do not find the Bravante has too much oak at all…

Me on Cellartracker…90 Points…”Just bought, Popped and Poured at room temp. It took 30 mins to open then became much more enjoyable. Tight nose of dark fruits and a nice espresso/dark coffee thing. Flavor was tight at first then becoming generous with bright dark fruit. Mid-palate was slightly lacking, but it probably needs time to develop. Finish was balanced and long with integrated tannins. Made in an older style with great fruit, but not too much oak, which I like. Overall very enjoyable wine that will evolve over 2-5 years…AMM

Second night, 90-91, was stored in the fridge under light suction. Developed more complexity and balance. Coffee / Espresso thing is more evident. Looking forward to my next bottle…AMM”
