QOTD: Great Idea, need some balance for Gary hah. Some people may not like Gary because he’s “loud”, aggressive American type that Europeans might not see eye to eye with he’s passionate and he does things his way. I can def. see why people from your forum wouldn’t see it as a good idea ^_^

So glad you liked the 1991 Ridge Montebello. My in-laws owned the Montebello winery in the early twentieth century. Redwood barrels, if you can believe it.

What an amazing and thoroughly educational show. The back and forth between Jancis and Gary was magnetic – I could barely pause the show to answer my door for the trick-or-treaters tonight. Watching Jancis and your recent shows with Randall Graham, I couldn’t be happier with the level of expertise and knowledge. A great wine critic does not push his or her opinions, but educates the reader(or viewer in this case)so that he or she can make up his or her own mind. We love Gary’s over the top enthusiasm, but it was nice to see him in a more restrained and reflective mode. Thanks Gary for hosting these shows. I wish you could have Jancis for 3 more days.

I got a tingle when you said your watershed Cali wine was 1991 Ridge … Montebello. I was so sure you were starting a rave about the 1991 Ridge … Lytton Springs Estate Zinfandel — the greatest modern Zinfandel.

QOTD: Loved it! Sherry is one of my passions now. Port is still great, but you don’t find dry Ports, do you? Jancis was very personable and knowledgeable and did not come across as a wine snob. Excellent show.

Wow. If that wasn’t the #1 WLTV episode of all time. Amazing guest. Every minute was interesting.

QOTD: This was the best idea ever! When I first looked at Gary’s ‘tv.winelibrary’ today and I saw that Jancs Robinson is here, I thought that does Gary even know what a bite he’s bitten. Maybe along that line Jancis’s friends would tell her not to waste her time.
But Jancis is friendly to everyone and she was here to share her knowledge with everyone. What an expert! (Gary has a lot to learn, all that talk is so superficial.)

OMG Gary, best show in all of the 500 that I’ve seen. I’ve been waiting for you to get some really heavy hitters and it’s been happening lately. Really well done, you did a great interview this time, showed respect, but also represented yourself well. After all these shows, I kind of get it now, you are the taster, not the geek, not the wine nerd, you simply are the super taster that evaluates wine more in depth than anybody out there without prejudice. The next RP perhaps?

Amazing! I am “of an age” with Jancis and have read many of her books. An aside- (Gary you should study how her books were written before you attempt to write another yourself!)
She brought a class and experience to WLTV that all Gary’s exuberance and enthusiasm could not create.
Bravo to you Gary for having the guts to allow yourself to be shown up a little bit by one of the legends of wine media in order to bring her to your audience.

Must drink more sherry.
