Gary, how about a show featuring wines from the Montsant DO region of Spain, surrounding Priorat? I only found two Montsants on the WL web site.

Great show; makes me wonder when I’ll drink a few of the wines I have squirreled away for the distant future. QOTD: You should do a show on bizarro wines, the ones that make “serious” wine people uncomfortable. One example: the mysterious and frequently banned Uhudler wine of southeast Austria.

Love laid-back Friday, keep them coming. Blind Monday sounds like a good tradition, too.

I’ve never been a Jets fan (let’s face it, it hasn’t been easy), but thanks to Favre’s story and your enthusiasm, I’m beginning to follow. The performance of my local team (Eagles) hasn’t hurt, either.

QOTD: How about a show on Chambourcin? I live in Delaware, and a lot of it is grown around here. I’d be interested in your take on it.

  • A dumb Rhine king

Keep the mojo flowin my friend.

    QOTD:

Maybe take a look at different wines from around the US that are unique to the US.

A cold climate episode would be interesting. You could taste wines such as Minnesota’s U of MN grapes Marquette and La Crescent, or Elmer Swenson of Wisconsin’s grapes Prairie Star and Sabrevois.

Looks I answered the question of TODAY yesterday.
You can call me Toni “the precog”

So, see the wines from countries like:
Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Albania, Moldova, Georgia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia… and last but not least (mailed you that one) Slovenia (hard to stress that one enough 🙂 )

As per winemakers, you might want to host Ale? Kristan?i? of Movia estate. The guy is borderline mad (or so it seems). Makes a couple of very interesting wines incliding (but not limited to)
    1. undisgorged “méthode rurale meets méthode champenoise” sparkling wine called Movia Puro
    2. Movia Lunar, a wine, not only “unfiltered”, but completely unpressed and unprocessed. He actualy stuffs the modified barrels and burries them underground. The entire process is left unatended for months… the greaps pop, ferment, macerate and finaly the wine clears itself…

    Doh… too long…

Nice shout out on your two new knickenbockers.

QOTD: I second the Chambourcin show from Va or perhaps a white wine Pedro Ximenez from Spain. Of course I am always up for a pinot tasting with Brick house, who also produces my favorite Gamay, and Sineann included since neither have been represented.

  • Great show Gary V and good luck to the Jets. I’ll get to work on the homework after my Vikes find a way to lose to the Jags.

QOTD: I’ve got 3 letters for ya…D R C…do it, do it, do it. Not exactly apropos for this economic climate, but you can let little guys like me who cant afford hundreds on a bottle taste vicariously through ballers such as yourself.

Gary fun show! Every time I watch I learn something new! I caught every episode this week! And I am a new member to your site! I am hooked! Good luck to the Jets Hope they pull it off for the sake of a good wine review on Monday!

    QOTD:

1- A show on good wine coolers and how to store and preserve your wine especially with all the wines you recommend we store for many years.

2- A show on Greek Wines, during the show it would be cool if you covered two things a) what regions to visit if visiting Greece to try good wines b) I saw you had greek wines on winelibrary but can you do an episode on them.

3- Doesnt have to be a complete show but somehting where you try Vine Cliff Cabernet in Napa, I am a little biased and hold them up high because they were my 1st introduction to wines in Napa and I like that they are not into making a vast amount of wine and Cater to making only the best if they can only make 300 exceptional cases instead of 500 they will do it to keep there wine in that higher level!

    4) A show on Great places to visit to taste wines. I saw you are doing a Wine Cruise great idea how about a Trip to France Touring and tasting different vintages? Just a thought.

    Thanks!

Great show. Good to know that you’re getting back into the groove. 🙂

QOTD: I don’t think you have enough Ohio wine…Ohio has some amazing wines. Actually, I think that you should do a winery grape juice show for the kids. I had some incredible grape juice from a few wineries. I don’t remember names, though. 🙁

Do Arbois, they are some very very old school and interesting wines from Jura in France..
or do Hunter Valley Semillion .. you know the old school ones that need to age.

Tannat sounds interesting with a great price for tasting ? not your everyday wine, like Sagrantino?

QOTD ? Tried a search for one of my favorite wines Linne Calodo, from the distinctive limestone soils of the west side of Paso Robles. Unfined and unfiltered wines through the blending of Rhone and Zinfandel varietals. This would offer a unique blend of wines from a different area of the coast for a future show. Might even compare a varietal to a blend. ciao

  • WOOO! Laid back Friday!

QOTD: Would LOVE to see a Finger Lakes wines show?or at least hear your thoughts on them. I don’t really know if the quality of them really can contend with many of the other wines on the show, but it’d be cool to hear your thoughts. The local liquor store has a wall dedicated to them. There’s a ton that aren’t serious, but you can find some decent ones in the mix.

  • MattUD

Nice little show on Tannat. Will get back to you on the real QOTD.
