line of the day -there are loads of classic lines today but I had to choose one and here it is; (referring to a wine and Gingerbread house pairing) -‘kind of like a couple that have been married for a while, both laying in bed reading, not really doing anything’ (wink wink)

Wacky fun episode with loads of quotable lines. As a non-American the gingerbread house is such an American product…’hollywood food’

My wife is one heck of a good cook, so any meal/desert that she come up with is bound to be a hit.
Tonight she served sliced peaches, that we put up this past summer, served under a dumpling-like lite cake. All under a touch of warmed vanilla Silk.
Very lite, almost no calories, and healthy.
While I’m not altogether sure of the gingerbread house, the Rabaud sounds like something I will seek out. (At that price point, I would be a fool not to).

Holy Crap! We just went 95 points on the TS! It got me like a snake in the boots, we were all down in the dumps and then BAM!

QOTD: Normal stuff… rhubarb pie, oreos, dark chocolate anything.

  • apj_bobswineguy

Miles of Chocolate or Chocolate Oblivion!
diabetic too…but when I splurge it is usually chocolate that breaks me.

It is Michele Chiarlo. Great apricot-peach aromatics. Great light fizz.

Love the idea of this pairing and the one you did with the candy bars. Venture out to the great wide open!

Oh Boy! favorite dessert?!?! dessert is my favorite dessert.

I like chocolates but not chocolate cake, I can never find one that “brings the thunder” so I stick to 85%, 70% dark chocolate blends, and Catalan Cream (which is sort of the Spanish version of Créme brulée).

I also enjoy Moscatell sweet wines and apple cider( real apple cider ) a lot.

Love the dessert wine and am really enjoying ports as of late. Also, I seriously don’t think Gingerbread houses are for eating. I’m not sure what the hell they’re for other than to look at.

QOTD: Sooooo many. Some that come to mind: Carrot cake w/cream cheese frosting, warmed volcano chocolate bundt cake w/vanilla bean ice cream, banana bread with chocolate fudge frosting, etc, etc. I don’t think there’s a dessert I don’t like.

p.s. Don’t count your Jets out. The AFC East is a jumble fruck and could go in so many different directions. My Bears on the other hand are on a one way trip to woulda-coulda-shoulda’ville this year. Regardless, we both will be glued to the last two weeks no matter what happens.

Nice show, have you ever considered doing a cigar and port show?

QOTD: Really hard to choose one, but I love strawberry rhubarb pie or tart, NY Cheesecake, Dirt Cake, and my speciality is a White Chocolate Mocha truffle

  • Colleen

At xmas it would have to be a brandy soaked fruit cake with hot custard. Do a Port show already Chuk!

Gingerbread pairings? Who would’ve thunk it?

QOTD: i’ve been really into Bread Pudding with Vanilla Cream ever since I learnt how to make it. But in Singapore we have lots of local dessert so one of my faves is glutinous rice balls fill with red bean paste in a clear sweet liquid.

  • QOTD: Cheesecake (cherries on top) or homemade apple pie.

BTW, Gary, you must be ill. Normally you would have demolished that gingerbread house with 1 punch!

Was Joe Pisarcik at the Jets/Bills game Sunday….(sorry, Mott)?

    QOTD – 2 answers today…

For Dan: my low-fat (let’s not talk about the calories though) made from scratch carrot cake

For Erin: although the carrot cake rocks, my personal fave is simple angel food cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream

Re: wine of the month club…SO wishing we lived in a different state right now (hopefully the MI decision will be finalized at some point in this lifetime!)

  • Hey
Thanks for yet a great show!

QOTD: An intense, dark – almost black, chocolate-mousse, made with really good, bitter chocolate. Paired with e.g. a young vintage port, or a good red recioto 🙂

By the way – how about some port and champagne shows, for the coming holidays?

  • Robert Howells

    chocolate peanut butter pudding cake.

    QOTD:
    Cheese.
Well aged real stinkers like Munster , Brie or Camembert (unpasteurised, God help us!!!).
I’d die for a nice “tete de moine” with white truffle accacia honey.

Come to think of that, I’d pair any ripe strong flavoured cheese with mead (honey wine). Chestnut honey. Yes. Bitter at the end, like gewurztraminer.

    YUM.

You say leave a comment, so I’m finally leaving a comment! I’ve been lurking too long.

QOTD: Nothing like really really really good cannoli, freshly filled with a great crispy shell and maybe some dark chocolate. Only valid when IN Brooklyn. Yum.

Great show, love it and love love love you!

But I feel like it needs to go somewhere NEW in 2009. Switch up the formats every now and then; and throw in educational stuff for the sommeliers in training.

But don’t do anything gimmicky like editing!

  • Kirk AKA: (slave2thevine)

QOTD: I’m going to go with cheese cake…or anything cold like ice cream, sherbet, ect.
