line of the day -there are loads of classic lines today but I had to choose one and here it is; (referring to a wine and Gingerbread house pairing) -‘kind of like a couple that have been married for a while, both laying in bed reading, not really doing anything’ (wink wink)

Wacky fun episode with loads of quotable lines. As a non-American the gingerbread house is such an American product…’hollywood food’

Grilled poundcake topped with 1) whipped cream that is flavored with rum, 2) melted chocolate with ancho chili pepper and 3) peaches that have been marinating in Grand Marnier. So good.

    Or…

    Chocolate chip cookies and milk.

Awesome episode…convinced a longtime fan to finally leave a comment!

the most amazing dessert ever EVER in the history of mankind is Merveilleux, which can be easily found in the north of France, where I spent a semester during college. A quick google search didn’t yield much info about it, unfortunately. It’s basically layers of light merengue and light chocolate mousse, covered with chocolate shavings. Doesn’t sound too extraordinary, but please, go to Au Merveilleux in Lille, France, and try it for yourself.

My girlfriend Caity wants to add hers: Ok, Mr. Gary…go into Manhattan, upper west side, Levain bakery…get yourself a hot,1/2 lb. choc. chip cookie. Probably, you’ve already tried it. That is my favorite dessert and the best bakery to make them! Thanks for such a fun show!!!

Happy Holidays, we miss the North!

QOTD: That type of chocolate cake with liquid chocolate in the middle, they call them moelleux in french. And homemade Tiramisu, with a good dose of coffee in it. Or Tarte tatin, little bit of crust with massive chunks of apples on it. Alamode.

    I’m really hungry now.

  • QOTD: Lemon merengue and cheesecake, as well as any variants of either of the two.

Neat show – very interesting pairing idea! Quite the chuckle when you tried to punch the house and the house won. That’s what you get for buying well-built gingerbread houses!

  • Karen

Hey G.V.–Blueberry wine–sounds delicious and perfect for summer maybe. Gingerbread home–sounds much better than gingerbread house. Best thing about living in a g-bread home: no foreclosures! Yeah 🙂 You just eat your house if times get too tough. QOTD: anything with a graham cracker crust, whipped cream, crushed toffee bits, and chocolate pudding. Not sure what you call that, but you can’t go wrong! Great episode.

Heston Blumenthal’s bacon and egg ice cream – off the chart, crazy deliciousness!!!

On less bling days I also love a classic creme brulee or lemon posset.
