line of the day – ‘you are comparing a major league player with a high school bench warmer’

This is the sort of fantastic show that sets Gary and Winelibrarytv apart. So much brilliant knowledge, complemented by razor sharp tasting notes, and the whole thing mixed up in a wildly entertaining and completely outside the box format.

Awesome!

  • QOTD: Hendricks and tonic! Minus the tonic! (not a fan of the bubbly…)

There’s something great about watching your tasting glass take on a life of its own and “wander” about on your icy table. QOTD: the sips of Charles Heidsieck at our wedding back in 1996. LET’S GO JETS!!

  • Smith MBA

Great show dude. You need the Bolshevik hat in those environs.

  • QOTD: Best bubbly… no idea, usually just drink what’s put in front of me… But I think I’m going to track down a couple of bottles of that Legras Brut Champagne Blanc De Blancs

  • Having just graduated from college and prepared to enter the real world after the new year I am anxious to try some new wines (and champagnes). Until then, my answer to the QOTD of that pink champagne you can get at the grocery store and local gas stations for like $5.99 — It’s almost as good as a 12 pack of Natural Light!

  • Still haven’t been able to get excited about a bubbly. Enjoyed the Castellroig and an ’06 Barmes Buecher Cremant d’Alsace.

QOTD: The best bubbles I’ve ever put in my mouth were at the Vias trade tasting in NYC with JoeG and Julius. After 60 or so young, tannic, Italian reds, a glass of cold Pellegrino was sheer bliss – like a massage for the palate.

Brrrrrrr. And I thought L.A. was cold this week…
    Glad to see you back!

qotd: I can’t remember which was best only the event that made it special.

TGIF and welcome back. This year has been so much richer since you came into our lives. I’m sipping gewurztraminer with my fish supper..and it works. The cherry or lemon on the top was to find you back and being as passionate as ever. Our local wine store has installed a “degustation center” where with a pre-purchased card you can taste a selection of wines.I drop by after work (as a cook) and sniffy sniff and swirl and enjoy. Yesterday it was a 93 dollar wine, Bolgheiri?? There are so many wines out there but YOU(and MOTT) have changed my wineworld forever. If you were in my Montreal I would be at Winelibrary as often as possible. Happy Holidays. Great success for 2009!!

Gary, the trend seems to be moving from flutes to more tulip shaped glasses for sparklers. What do ya think. I like the bigger glasses because I don’t need to keep refilling! Have you done a show with the same wine in different type glasses? I miss Jersey, but not the snow (70 in Charlotte today). Happy Holidays!

  • 82 Salon and the Pol Roger Sir Winston 1996. Not to mention the 1985 Krug. Thanks for the great show I don’t like it that cold. Peter

  • Good to have you back. JETS will kick sucky Seatle’s butts, because they have to! Miami will win and the Pats will loose. Guess what happens when the JETS play Miami???

QOTD: I haven’t seen it in a while, but Snapple made white birch beer back in the day. It was sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

Hey GV, Excellent show! The WLTV brand is back. Unstoppable and untoppable. Cheers to you and your team.

QOTD: Best bubbles, 1996 Salon–hands down the best stuff I’ve had (and have more bottles in waiting) followed by NV Krug Rose. So many of the “great” Champagnes are overrated. People, you can have your DP and Grande Dame. I’m taking the Salon.

WTTW: If you are looking to mix it up a bit, look for “RM” in tiny print on the label for variety and intrigue. These are the “grower’s champagnes.”

Solid show as usual Gary, good to have you back. We actually have a fair bit of snow up here in Seattle right now… btw I will forgive you for the Seahawks comment since it is so true. Happy holidays.

    I love this.
The most informative wine show – on the web or anywhere else,
and it’s still more fun to watch than Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
(excepting, of course, the Musical episode which I rated a 98+)

QOTD: Has to be Dom Perignon Oenotheque (samples, courtesy of the vendor!)

If I had to compare price to quality it would be hands down N. feuillatte Brut Rose, and then a taittinger prelude… 1995 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is amazing but very expensive as well as the Krug I have in my cellar (which I have not had yet). I’m a huge fan of champagne but it’s hard finding people to appreciate it on an every day basis as opposed to a celebratory wine.
I alway hear how great Krug is so I’m a fan without ever trying it. I keep telling myself to save em’ for a more special occasion but screw it I’m opening one christmas morning. If it sucks i’ll just throw some oj in it.HAHA 🙂

  • Is snow really bad for business? I would think people would spend romantic evenings with a bottle of wine during a snow storm 🙂
