Ya know…I’ve never participated in any of the secret packs and I usually end up regretting it. Especially the time you included a sauterne in the pack…I’m still smarting from that one. Maybe someday…

Wine cant be sent from New Jersey to PR so I shipped the last secret pack to a miami address and took 2 boxes to a small party. By the end of the night I had learned “the pregnancy dance”. dont mix wine with champagne; not a good idea.

Gotta say Gary, I sure like it when you get pumped up over a strong offering from the Languedoc, it reminded me of that tasting you did of the 2003 Mas de la Barben Les Calices which became recommendation #101 in your book. I assume this wine is going into next year’s edition.

Regarding the Patriots-Bills game, I will be rooting for the Patriots. I am also taking the Jets over the Dolphins. I read earlier that the Jets were pelted with snowballs as they were leaving Qwest Field last Sunday – which is despicable of them to do. That is adding insult to injury. Regardless of who wins the AFC East, I want what could be Favre’s last game to be a victory.

We’ll be watching tomorrow – although at 8-9 probably tasting bacons and coffees, not wines 🙂

Neat that you had a SAfrican SB on the show, as I just tried my first this afternoon at a X-mas gathering! Mine was definitely lacking the characteristic acid that I love about SB, but good to see there are more traditional efforts out there. Love the selections for Xmas/600! Too much wine in the hizzy to drink any of the secret pack yet. Though I made a special trip to WL Tues. evening to pick-up my pack that Justin made special for me. Parking lot was so full that flashlight-yielding men directed us to a space around the corner. Also bought some cheese, the Cowgirl is stinking up my fridge. Now that you and Mott tasted all the wine for me, I know exactly when and what to serve these wines with. Just had a 2003 Chateau Valcombe from the Cotes du Ventoux the other day–it tasted like you were eating rose petals. I loved it. Gary, thanks for all you do. Fantastic Episode #600. Agree on the SA Sauv Blancs. One of my first steps back into expanding my “pal” was a Sauv Blanc from the Swartland region. Excellent buy at 7 bones from Sebeka.

I can’t lie on Christmas…I haven’t watched the episode yet, but as soon as I get off the ship I am going to download it…If it is as good as the other episodes I’ve seen (Still playing catch up-currently just broke into the 500’s) I’m sure it will be outstanding! It actually pains me to watch your show while I’m stuck on the ship, as the U.S. Navy has yet to take the lead of the French and build a wine bar into the ship. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!
