line of the day – ‘there are some grandmas who still want to be in highschool’

Really enjoyable episode including a ‘laugh out loud’ moment just before the 8 minute mark when Gary re-enacts his invitation to hard core Cabernet Franc drinkers.

You should do the same exact wines. No label difference at all. Same year, same model. Maybe even the same case. Maybe not.

qotd: 2003 clarendon hills grenache, I remember it cause of an off vintage but was loaded with raspberry (which sucks me right in) and spices I also got at a great price which is always a plus.

  • I have a couple Chinons in the closet that I haven’t gotten into but I’m excited. Don’t know how old the vines are…

QOTD: Going off of your RECCO!(Boiler Room), the 2005 Atteca Armas.

  • CBone

I liked this episode. I began trying the Chinons over the past few months, and I must say, I love them. I think I might buy both of these wines and do this test myself. Cool idea.

QOTD: I’ve had lots of old vine Zins, and I tend to like them. I really liked the Cline old vine Zinfandel 2004 (?) vintage. Deliciousness…

  • QOTD: I’ve only had one old vine wine, a 2005 Château Segonzac (bordeaux), it was quite astringent and fruty, but good.

QOTD: Old Vines Zins from Pezi King and Seghesio are tops.

Had a Cab Franc from Saumur last year that did not care for at all. Good episode here to entice us to try something new again.

  • Ha. I’m only 2 minutes into this episode, and already I see what I like best about it — the “official lurker” T-shirt 🙂 That is just awesome 🙂 So, having said that, now I will go listen to the rest of it so that I can be better informed about the actual topic of today’s episode (and yes, I am excited to learn about chinon 🙂

just a simple idea for a show yet so poignant.i need to get some nice chinon. every time a take a bottle, it just seems unfocused and not that exciting. some friends whom i trust a lot tell me to keep trying…. so i am.

QOTD – that is a tuff one. i can’t say a particular wine, but the VV burgundies that i have had have been a lot better than the “normal” cuvee. i always am looking for the VV esp with burgs.

side note – with older and wiser – perfect example, Homer and Lisa Simpson HA!
