QOTD: How does he do it? Because in my humble opinion…..he has one of the top 20 jobs in the world. That’s how!

Another great show Gary, and although I’m quite a novice when it comes to Burgundy, I plan on buying a few and giving them a whirl. (And a sniffy sniff!)

  • BTW – great job by Mott today getting your speaking sound levels just right over the considerable ambient noise of the bar/restaurant.
    Kudos, Chris!

  • hey gary! you always talk about room temperature and I think I agree, but what does room temperature mean to you? i personally think 68 degrees is ideal for all wines… creeping about 72 gets quite hot for me and unpleasant… and i REALLY REALLY liked the guest’s philosophy of starting colder (i’d say around 60) and watching the glass evolve.. i think there may be more to be learned from that experience…

    cheers!

Nicely done by the two of you. Nothing beats wine geeks discussing all aspects of the grape, terrior, etc.

I’ll certainly be taking both of your words of wisdom and seeking these gems out.

Darn! Too late…Episode 14. Anyway, I just wanted to comment that Gary should talk more about “room temperature.” What is the wine definition of room temperature? Is it not relative? I live in Hawaii, and I notice that waaaaay too many people here serve red wine too warm due to the “room temperature” guideline, and room temperature here is often between 70 and 80 degrees F in the evening.

QOTD: Gary is truly the the epitome of a guy who has found his passion and wants to share it with the world.

Great job and a fun episode. Very informative about value plays in Burgundy that we need to seek out. How does Gary do it? He loves people and truly wants to change the wine world for the better.

qotd: no idea, but I’m glad he does
Thanks, guys, for the great show. I always prefer the guests who have some knowledge to share over those who don’t. I’m looking forward to drinking a good red Burgundy on Saturday.

Also, Gary, maybe one of these restaurants or bars you visit will have a wine buyer who’s really into Madeira and you could base an episode on it. I’ll bet they’d even have a vintage Madeira you could taste. Otherwise I’d love to see it on a regular episode, but for some reason WL doesn’t seem to carry a vintage Madeira. I’m sure you could come up with one.

  • QOTD: Passion!

I really wanted to enjoy this episode. I love the content and Daniel is a great and very knowledgeable guest. The sound is just unbearable. I understand location sound and all that, but a couple of decent wireless mics, a small mixer and some good patch cables (I’m assuming the camera doesn’t have pro inputs) and this could be solved. It’s upsetting to me, but maybe it’s just me?

QOTD: As a Myers-Briggs psych test afficionado and Greek mythology blogger, I’m thinking Gary’s energy and passion in great measure come from his EXFP personality, which would be a combination of Dionysus and Aphrodite, the two most sensual and irresistible divinities in the pantheon. Not to take the comparison too far, but that’s a potent combination.

QOTD:Have you seen other wine programs?
Man! the roar of the crowd really got to me around the 30 min mark. How about some microphones gary. It’s surprising that a tech guy like yourself doesn’t work to better the sound when doing a guerilla show like this.

Great show. Daniel can’t beleive I didn’t know about you, you rock! Thanks.
I see a Gary and Daniel tour– 25 cites, great food, great wine, and huge fun. A re-make of the best dual that never was– Don Rickles and Gary Copper.

Answer to Daniel’s question: Heart baby, its all about the heart.

I had last night my favorite Burgandy, only about $26.00: Domaine Xavier Monnot Maranges Clos de la Fussiere 1er cru 2005.
QOTD: I’d say spontaneity bolstered by extensive background knowledge, and fiercely critical opinions tempered by a sweet nature.
