One of the classiest episodes you have done, GV. You guys really had some great chemistry.

QOTD: Hopefully so if Obama and Clinton don’t keep funding Hamas.

QOTD: Not in its modern form.

As long as the government of that nation continues to brutalize, ghettoize, and ethnically cleanse the indigenous population who reside in its borders, it can expect increasing resistance domestically and regionally compounded with a loss of legitimacy internationally.

Israel has only three options : concede to a two state solution, treat its indigenous with dignity and give them a proportional stake as full citizens, or just go ahead, bite the bullet, and mercilessly wipe the Arabs completely out — and then suffer pariah status for doing so.

Within three generations (75 years) Israel will commit to one of these three directions and deal with each of the consequences. At any rate, no, in its current form – Israel will not exist.

  • Gary – amazing show with an amazing guest. Since you’re honestly the only wine anything I keep track of (short of a certain relation, Frank), I’d not heard of Rogov until tonight – I’ve been missing out!

QOTD: It will. Israel is one of two things: land (which will exist forever no matter what), and nation (which will exist in the hearts of its people forever). So yes.

    Neat show.

QOTD: Of course. Read Jeremiah 31:31-37 and 33:14-26. Ezekiel 37:(all, but esp 11-14, 21-28.) And the many other places in the Bible where God makes clear his new covenant promise and the land promise with Israel is eternal.
The government of Israel, however, will likely be in a rather different form 75 years from now, though, with a King on the throne of David. 🙂

AGAIN! great show. Was not going to watch. Thought it would bore me.

Only disappointment. What makes a wine kosher?????
You did hint about the old-style of pasteurizing that ‘burned’ the wines. But, shame on me, I don’t really grasp what makes it Kosher (and I work for a Jewish guy).

Rogov – I appreciate hearing a critic say he can be off on certain days. Your method of checking yourself is interesting. Is it unique? Because, you are right. What if you do give the same wine 2 scores that are 10-15 pts apart???

You guys had great chemistry. Also, any show that makes me break out the World Atlas is always a plus.

ps – loved the Santa Barbara folks 2-parter

    What makes a wine kosher?
Because wine is used to welcome the Sabbath, kosher wine can be handled only by Sabbath-observant Jews?those individuals who strictly observe kosher dietary laws. In addition, kosher winemakers are forbidden to use any products, such as unauthorized yeasts or animal-based fining agents that might fall outside the parameters of kosher convention and thus compromise the ritual essence of the wine.

    Great Show.
I wondered what he meant when he said he wasn’t into decanting.

Thanks for the info on what makes a wine kosher.

LOL when he smacked Gary in the back of the head. I don’t think I’ve seen a guest do that before.

I also like his responses for what are his favorite wines. Classy.

    QOTD: Yes, of course!

Enjoyed the show. Soon I will have to buy ‘kosher for passover’ wines for the seder. Last year I found a few good ones. One was from Italy and the others were from Israel and US.

  • I liked the fact that at least some of the wines you tasted were not from disputed areas. Those that were from what was once Syria will not be viable in the long term because the Golan Heights will end up going back to Syria at some point and whether the Syrians can manage wineries with not much experience is questionable. Israel will exist but may bear little resemblance to what is there today. I have had several Kosher wines recently and have been pleased with all of them. Loved the bacon in the nose comment.
