line of the day – ‘this smells like a helium balloon filled with oak chips’

After the previous episode where GV seemed a bit full of himself he’s back to his fantastic best in this one. The fruit machine analogy was pure gold.

Loved the show Gary – a bacon episode…..who would have thought?!?!?

I must agree with you Gary that Margaret River Wines are really starting to kick some ass….Of course I’m going to say that….I’m a freaken AUSSIE. But in all seriousness Margaret River, Mornington Peninsula, Heathcote and Tasmanian wine regions all produce some of the best wines in Australia, but they are all low on peoples radar….Especially here in Australia….

QOTD1…Chicken mignon…small sized chicken breast wrapped in bacon…Its baked in the oven then served with vegatables…ver special

QOTD2….Could you do some reviews on wines from the above wine regions that I have mentioned. i.e Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noirs.

  • A dumb Rhine king

Totally tequila when breathing out my nose after swallowing the wine.

Gary can we get that veggie/poop slot machine on a t-shirt with the extended quote on the back? 🙂

Bacon is awesome, in any way, shape or form. Never eaten it raw, but I wouldn’t turn it down, I’ve eaten plenty of raw fish and beef. My question for you Gary: I’m not a people person at all. You are. But…have you ever met someone you just did not like? And…if someone should meet someone in a business setting (a potential customer for example) that they really can’t stand, what should they do?

Too bad on the burgundy, nothing beats a good chambolle musigny.

QOTD: Flying solo, not too crispy.

QOTD for Gary: What are your thoughts on locavore wine consumption?

I like my bacon with jelly 🙂

Gary, do you think it is unfair to say that a white wine is too hot when its being tasted at room temp? My point is, isn’t white wine made to balance out at the cooler temp?

Love your energy, hook up the wristbands man!

Long time lurker- I have only left a few comments, but after the mention
of bacon, I was like a kid on Christmas Eve. I was counting the hours at work
and couldn’t wait to get home to see today’s show. It was great to see 100 pt
bacon, Mmmmm! I like bacon best in the summertime on sandwiches with home
grown tomatoes. How much raw bacon does one eat witn shots of vodka?

interesting show gary, keep up the food and wine pairing episodes. i find that i’m at the point where i don’t have a lot of trouble finding good wines, but i have trouble with finding good foods to go with them.

qotd: i have to confess, i’ve never really gotten deep into the bacon phenomenon. don’t get me wrong, it’s not that i don’t like it, i just don’t love it. that said, i’m in australia right now and i’m becoming a fan of the aussie bacon, it’s a little leaner and not so ridiculously overcooked like those pork sticks i get back home in the US. when i was younger i rolled like the russians though, raw or rare – must be my polish heritage.

sorry gary, i missed my question for you. i’m interested in starting collecting, but i’m a little too poor to roll super deep, so how should i go about that? the chateau paradis sounds like a good play, but there have to be other wines maybe in the $20-50 range that bring the thunder over the short, medium, and maybe even long term.

When I am cooking bacon for my family I like to sneak one before I serve it. In a perfect world, I could eat a 1lb a bacon and a bottle o wine a day easy. 2 questions why would you drink a provonce before a burg? of course it sucked! What is your most memorable experience with your family?

    Great show

Another excellent episode… perhaps bacon should be a regular fixture?!

    QOTD: Plain, crispy, nuffsaid.

QOTD for you: What other single food item has the most power to transform the taste of wine?

Great show! Way to bring the thunder

I like my bacon thick and undercooked.

My question to you is– What is the one wine you could not live without?

  • QOTD: I really love Mo’s Bacon Bar from Vosges Chocolates. It’s a great mix of savory (salty) and sweet).

Gary, I really thought you’d feature a Monastrell or a Syrah with this episode. To me, some wines made from those varietals exude gamey notes of bacon fat (always a good thing in my book). I work for a winery (www.jccellars.com) that makes some Syrahs with that characteristic. Haven’t tried them with bacon, but I should!

QOTD: Bergen Bagel Bacon Egg and Cheese (on a bagel of course).

QOTD 2: Here’s the same question I ask your order department every few weeks. Where are my 05 Haut Brisson futures?

  • Chateau Plonk

QOTD: Bacon straight up is amazing of course, but I also think it’s awesome with veggies. Fry up some 1/2 inch bacon slices, remove them from the pan when crispy but leave the fat then saute some shredded brussles sprouts in said fat, put the bacon back in and voila! Supreame awesomeness.

  • Dan Manu

QOTD: Bacon with everything!! Can’t beat bacon and eggs though…

Question for Gary: Gary, you mentioned a few episodes ago that you’re going to New Zealand in July… Will you be coming to Australia too??? C’mon you know u wanna!

QOTD – GOOD quality, non-commercial Amish-smoked bacon BLT, on wheat with good mayo….will knock your dick into your watch-pocket….every time!
No other way to say it.

    YOU WONT READ THIS THOUGH!

    cool show man lovin’ it.

QOTD: I eat my bacon on top of an over-easy egg smashed between some wheat toast. MMMMMmmm….snap!

My question for Gary Vaynerchuk: If you were seated in a brown leather chair in a room that was painted burgundy and an elderly man wearing reading glasses told you to “Describe what you feel when when you hear this word.” After glancing at his clipboard he returned his eyes to yours and said with no particular emphasis. “Beer.” What would you say?

  • I love bacon wrapped around shrimp. Not sure which wine I would pick with it though, but that’s why I’m watching your internet show. I’m hooked.
