line of the day – ‘this smells like a helium balloon filled with oak chips’

After the previous episode where GV seemed a bit full of himself he’s back to his fantastic best in this one. The fruit machine analogy was pure gold.

  • I love bacon wrapped around shrimp. Not sure which wine I would pick with it though, but that’s why I’m watching your internet show. I’m hooked.

  • Chris in Tulsa

QOYD #1: Bacon is good breakfast food but becomes great with a summer BLT!

QOTD #2: When will you be able to ship wine to Oklahoma! Bought 90% of my wine from you! Far better selection online than here!

  • QOTD: Hands down, nice and crispy bacon bits on top of an iceberg wedge salad with blue cheese dressing, lots of cracked black pepper and red onion.

QOTDFY (question of the day for YOU): How long do you plan on continuing WLTV? Just like you said @ 92Y about one of your clients “Robert Parker won’t be scoring wine forever”, so when do I have to picture a world with no Thunder Show? 🙁

mmmmmm… wish I could have some bacon right now!

QOTD – I like bacon by itself during breakfast, in an omelet , or chopped up in a tomato/red sauce.

Otherwise, are you excited about the upcoming baseball season? How come you’re not into the Yankees?

    Great Show!!!

QOTD: Bacon is great….no matter how it is served. Definitely a fan of bacon wrapped jalapenos…..delicious.

Question to you Gary: You’ve been doing a lot of different things such as tech stuff recently and I was wondering if your passion for wine has gone down any/taking a back seat to some of your newer interests?

Great show! QOTD: Bacon, had it last in a baked potato that was really good.
QOTD for Gary: When you pazzzz on a wine and say you can think of others that are better in the same price/type, let us know what those are?

    like the veggie/poop t-shirt idea.

  • I enjoy bacon on a turkey sandwich with mayo. But it has to be superthin sliced turkey. And I really like peppered bacon, but my wife doesn’t. Hence, I don’t have peppered bacon all that often.

  • This is my first comment, I’ve been lurking trying to stay away from the oak monster.

QOTD: Bacon by itself is the best. Close second, in “stuffed” french toast. Two strips diced up in between two slices of bread stuck together with a thin layer of cream cheese… then you egg it up.

QforGary: What’s your opinion on non-grape based “wines”? Locally (Newfoundland, Canada) we have producers making wines from Rhubarb, Strawberry, Raspberry, Blueberry, Cranberry, Bakeapple, Apple, we even have a Chardonnay/Rhubarb blend.

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy , I am back!!! love bacon and in my opinion, the best way to have it is done crispy and then cut it up into 1 inch squares and have it with a very fresh Baguette!! awesome…
Question to You: Do you only eat bacon at home with breakfast or do you seek bacon in dishes at restaurants as well???

    best,

    Roberto

You and Dan Philips should do a wine/bacon pairing show. In addition to ownpng R wines and Marquis Philips, his Grateful Palate website has a bacon of the month club with bacons from all over the world. I love bacon and wine and am also a huge fan of WLTV and Dan’s wines. If it ever happens, I’m driving up the turnpike and crashing the show.

Thanks and keep up the great work,

    John

Great show, you were totally pumped for this show!! Loved it!

QOTD: Crisped up and straight into my mouth is how I like to roll

Question for Gary: How many wines for NJ have you tried and liked ? (not counting the blueberry ones that you did)

  • Bacon’s best on a BLT with big fat Louisiana Creole Tomatoes.

My question for you Gary: We’ve got crawfish season coming up and a big crawfish boil we’re planning for the end of April. Beer’s a given, but to take things up a notch, what wines would you pair with some juicy, spicy crawfish?

Just a general suggestion. Mott or Matt, needs to learn how to focus on the wine labels so we as the public may have an idea on the which blurred image is which wine. Macro lenses are very helpful in picking up on the minute details of a small detailed image. Again, I’m not being a dick, but I think this will help the overall presentation of the show. Thank you for all the information on wine and the culture.

QOTD: I love it best just like my grandma made it- pan fried, with fried eggs cooked in the bacon grease.

Question for Gary: Can you do a show on the American grape varietals such as Catawba, Concord, Niagara, etc?? I don’t believe it’s been done yet!

  • QOTD: I love bacon(does Canadian count?) on Pizza with pineapple! Never thought I would, but I decided to expand the Pallette, one day, and now I LOVE IT!

My question: What is the effect Terrel Owens will have on the AFC East? Most specifically to the JETS!

Great to have a wine from Provence on the show. I would love to see you do more value wines from the south of France outside of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. 🙂

P.S. A couple of month ago, my friend had a blind tasting at her work, where her co-workers are mostly European men. I recommended Chateau St. Jean Cote-du-Rhone, which I had just tasted the week before, and it beat out a $30 spanish wine someone brought (which was cheating since the price limit was $15). Anyway, the wine won the tasting hands down and now they all know about Winelibrary :). Thanks for making me look good.

QOTD: Canadian bacon in egg’s benedict

The Burgundy Poop Veggie Slot Machine, that is hilarious, well done..

QOTD: Bacon by itself to enjoy the DELICIOUS flavor. Bacon wrapped scallops are amazing. I’m convinced bacon can make anything taste good.

QOTD for Gary: Do you think the Jets will make a play to get Jay Cutler?!?!

Like others, I thought the poop/veggie slot machine shtik was inspired!

QOTD: Bacon is great as an ingredient, and I’ve learned a lot of new places to put it reading these comments. But during the few times I’ve eaten it alone as you did, Tarlant Brut Zero Champagne went toe-to-toe. Nervy, not creamy. A perfect match!
