  • I’m in Indy with my family for Easter. We haven’t picked out what kind of wine we’re drinking yet but we bought some good beers. We have the He’brew Genesis Ale and the Old Speckled Hen. Will definitely take your suggestion and looking for a Hermitage.

Gary, have you ever done an Easter egg HUNT? You’re supposed to have to FIND the egg, and you told everyone right where the egg was hidden! Not only that, to have people post it in the comments, #2-10 could just copy paste #1, they didn’t even have to look for it. I found the egg about 5 hours before the episode was posted, but then couldn’t do anything with it. Maybe next time keep the location hidden, just say “I’ve planted an egg out there”, let people find whether it’s on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Youtube, etc, then have people email you the answer rather than post it publicly.

QOTD: Family is coming in for Easter, unfortunately I still have classwork to do in the mean time. I’m also probably not drinking anything until after Easter because there will be little ones around.

GV — How about a ‘baby’ secret pack? Pink wines for a girl, wine with blue fruit tastes (blueberry , plum etc) for a boy?

QOTD — tonight that Collalto Verdiso you liked so well in Feb (meh), haven’t fully decided for the rest of the weekend.

PS- no hard feelings in that comment because I already bought two wristbands several weeks ago, I just think the opportunity for a fun hunt by the Vaynernation was blown due to the methodology.

LOL, I just knew that guy from last episode was gonna have his comment read.
Today I picked up a couple of things at my local wine shop, two grape varietals which I’ve never had before and which I will try over the weekend with the family: verdelho and petit verdot. Cheers!

Loved the laid back couch Gary!

QOTD: unfortunately I’m sitting on my couch feeling sick right now…that’s no fun. Hopefully if things are better tomorrow, I’ll drink a few beers with my good buddy Matt coming in town from Philly.

  • EASTER EGG! Pinot Gris. Happy Easter everybody!

I agree with Kahuna. Pinot Gris. Now send me my wristband GV.

    Hey Gary,
Good show. The family had a nice pinot gris from Imagery pre-seder yesterday, but maybe I’ll still find something good for Easter. I’m probably just finishing some white wine in the fridge – viognier/sauv blanc/symphony blend made by my friend and finishing my taxes. Have a good time in San Diego.

Wow, that couch looks really comfortable!!! Have a happy easter Gary.

QOTD: Last night I drank 2 whites, a Wilm Riesling from Alsace and a Vidal Riesling from Linden (Virginia). Tonight I’m hanging out with some friends and drinking a Petit Verdot from Linden and a TBD red wine to expand the palette (maybe a Cotes du Rhone, Duoro, or Dolcetto). Looking forward to it IMMENSELY!

  • manonthemoon

    Always love the white rhones.

QOTD: Catching up on everything I missed while in Savannah and taxes.

Everybody knows you can’t go to the promo give away until the end of the show! It took all my willpower to let the show play while chomping the bit (as opposed to biting the bluestone / table / tree) to stop the episode and get in a quick comment to say “Pinot Gris” (of course the comments were up to pages [3] already . . . so anywho . . . Great energy as usual. Great weekend send-off. Peace.

QOTD: Step across the street to have a small dinner with friends and family and take a minute to look around, sniffy sniff the wine, and smile at how good life can be for a moment.

Glad to hear that Secret Packs are making a comeback. I was beginning to think that your Wine Clubs had made them redundant. Now I just need to figure out how to download the episode.

Typically, I have downloaded the episode and then made arrangements for an outdoor gathering of 8-12 people to particpate in this group tasting. I’t’s almost become a tradition for our group every 3 months. HOWEVER, I now notice that you can no longer download episodes. What happened? How can I get around this restriction (as we typically don’t have wireless access at our picnic grounds)?

Probably late, but ?easter egg? was Pinot Gris.
