Gretzky was already w/ the Kings…but he’s the only reason I watched Hockey back then. My buddy was from Edmonton and he got me started but Gretzky and the Kings kept me tuned in.

the 05 Napa Cab didn’t come from Burgess. I sold it to him. It was from another winery. And I had to beat the $$$$ out of him. I mean beat it out of him…..not cool.

Another great show. Even in Ireland, we know of the great man. He is a true star and a class act. Great to see that the wines stack up. Great to see the pride he has in the quality. Inspired to try a red icewine (if I can find one in Ireland. Great show Gary. Fire that first cameraman though 😉

I would love to see these wines in your store Gary. I order from the cuvee a lot, and toured a few when i was up in Canada. The shiraz icewine is one of my favorites!!

I used to love hearing that after goals, looks like he scored again with these wines. One of my favorite hockey players, along with Gordie Howe and Mark Messier.

Cool episode, and I have to be honest, I didn’t know he made wines; must seek them in wine shops.

Wow, I loved to see Gretzky on the show. As a Swede and a hockey fan, I got to see him beat Sweden in the world championships several times, brings back memories…

My guess on episode 666: Evil Gary the Wine Nerd will make an appearance.

Great episode, now the real question. Is these wines avalible in Sweden? I have a friend who´s birthday is coming up and he is a real hockey nerd just like me and this would be a perfect gift for him. We both grew up during the Gretzky era and he is really into wines, so this would be a perfect gift.

I’m probably the longest lurker here- it would take someone like Wayne to get me out of my shell. Good episode. Wayne seems totally like a down to earth guy. Funny how he doesn’t really know a whole lot about wine yet owns multiple vineyards- oh, to be that rich…

Gary you have a Hat trick 3 great shows in a row!! The Great one is fantastic.

GREAT show! But, as one who has lived nearly his entire life in the Pittsburgh area and grew up and remains a Penguins fan, I am saddened to see Wayne Gretsky become the first hockey player to appear as a guest on WLTV. No offense to Wayne; he’s the second greatest hockey player I’ve ever seen and is obviously sincere in his efforts to have his name attached to a quality product and raise money for a worthy cause. But, Gary, you of all people should be aware that Mario Lemieux is an avid, passionate wine collector, one who is especially knowledgeable about Bordeaux. The next time you feature Bordeaux, you should consider asking Super Mario to be your guest. It was interesting that Wayne should mention Tom Barrasso, since Barrasso is also a Bordeaux collector. Perhaps more than fate was involved in Wayne appearing on show #660–maybe the wine gods were providing a subtle reminder of who SHOULD have been the guest…and who was the better hockey player.

My first reaction when I saw the opening screen was “WTF??!!! Wayne Gretzky???!!!” You rock Gary! You really are changing the wine world.

I can see it now, Roger Federer tasting Swiss wines… Michael Schuhmacher sipping German Riesling… the possibilities are endless. If anyone can make it happen it’s you Gary.

Where can I get an autographed bottle of one of Wayne’s wines. Chard, Cab, Reis, it don’t matter. Although, the ICE WINE would be the sh!t.
My brother played hockey back in the 80s and he is still a HUGE hockey fan. He now has a large collection of sports memorabilia (Namath, Ali, Mantle, Jordan, etc. etc.) I would give him the signed bottle for his collection ’cause Gretzky was and still is one of his all time favorites.
