Nicely done.. I am a hater of the pink juice, but I’ll give the goat and monkey a try someday!! I enjoy these interview episodes as much as the impromptu ones in hotels, really nicely done.. I cannot believe that no one has scooped you up yet for a show much like Rachel Ray or Jimmy Fallon.. I for one would tune in!!!

And ok, I also thought “thats what she said”, but only because I love The Office so much!!

  • In my opinion, she seems real and so I liked this show, and its rather refreshing for a change in life. No phoneyness, no pretending she knew everything about wine. A nice guest. Katie dont even listen to the cranky ones here. You were great!

  • The cranky ones are probably your old boyfriends crying in their beer over losing you!

  • Had some polenta fried in duck fat tonight and I was think a Rose’ would have went great with that- however had a Prosecco opened already.

I like I can’t believe it’s not butter, but I smell merthiolate or mercurechrome in rose and it really puts me off. Plus the fact that I got sick a couple times with rose.
QOTD: I actually have a recipe for a rose wine pie, but I’ve never made it. I’ll bet it’s good. It looke smooth and white and the picture of the pie has a sliced strawberry on top.
If you keep trying water, at some point it may appeal to you. It has a lot of virtues. It’s hard to mess it up like people mess up iced tea all the time.

  • How do you not get Billy Joel to make an appearance for 30 seconds or so??? Those birds drove me crazy the entire episode.

QOTD: Rose and rapsberry gelato covered in dark chocolate shavings.

I nearly cried by the end of this episode. I love what you bring to the wine world, helping us and guiding us. It’s your super power Gary, when the bad guy attacks, you jump in and taste some wine and give the bad guy some wine to taste. They become so overjoyed with the pleasure of expanding their universe that they mutate into a good guy.

Gary, Gary, Gary, everytime I see you recently youre hanging out with some hot ladies….be it Katie Lee Joel or the women from TMI weekly. Furthermore I love the start of the TMI broadcast when the main presenter says, “we need two episodes of Gary, because he is just sooo big.”…. 😉

Are you sure youre not trying to teach us Vayniacs the art of seduction more so than the art of wine?

QOTD: Im thinking Lemon Merigue Pie…..not sure why though

Fantastic guest. The precociousness was palatable (palate plus table = palatable). I’m just sorry I don’t bake, such that I would have an answer for the QOTD. Peace.

Katie -an ice cube in your wine is PERFECTLY FINE.

GV- FYI, if an everyday bottle is not quite up to par (opened bottles, red white, or pink are kept in the fridge, but must be finished in a few days if possible.), it can be helped to firm up the tannins, and attenuate failing fruit by serving chilled, or adding an ice cube. It’s OK to do it, to salvage a situation.

Her Portuguese rose looks to me like Alianca’s Casal Mendes. Very inexpensive and good, but not worth saving/aging. Drink youngest available. Their Vinho Verde has awesome bright fruit (even melon) and big spritziness.

QotD – Sorry, no soda, no dessert. American per capita sugar consumption is WAAAY out of control. Grotesque. Fresh fruits/salad is natural and ok. And don’t buy and products in a bottle, jar, or box that use words like ‘natural’ either.

  • Great show, Gary — Katie’s so cute! I mean, I still think it’s a *little* weird that she’s my age and married to someone my dad’s age (don’t care WHO he is), but I gotta say ?- to each her own, and she’s winning me over anyway. She’s open to learning, not afraid to say ?I put ice cubes in my rosé!? I would totally be friends with her.

QOTD: Dessert with rosé would have to include fruit. I think something super simple and refreshing might be perfect, like fruit skewers (maybe grilled?) with sugared crème fraiche.

A very nice episode, good guest and your interview skills are continuing to improve.

QOTD – I would try mango or other tropical fruits.

  • This show had all the makings of a great one for me. I love rose and I’ve liked Katie since she was on Top Chef. It just didn’t quite work for me. It bothered me that she came across so poorly while talking about food. Whatever. No worries.

Great episode. If you got Billy to come over and taste with you, it would have jumped up to second best overall behind Gretzky. I have not found a Rose’ that I like but I’ll look for the donkey and goat next time I’m shopping.

QOTD – Strawberry Shortcake. When it’s fresh, its my favorite dessert.

  • Hmmm, this one made me feel a little uncomfortable as though I was taking part in a focus group. Who is off to your left? The guest “liked” rose but did not know much about wine or food for that matter but I guess when you’re the wife of a super rock star, alot of things come your way.

Secondly, the wines, again, were “Not Available” and wondering if we will learn about wine or be an audience (focus group) to buy the guests’ books, visit their websites or even be twittered? It’s beginning to feel like bring a groupie following Gary on his road tour.

Give me the laid back couch, mano y mano kind of show. Plus, how did you end up at his townhouse in the first place? Did I miss that tidbit of information? I read she got him to move from the Hamptons to Greenwich so I wonder what is next in store for the Piano Man, West Virginia?

QOTD: Dessert with a dry rosé? It’s almost an culinary oxymoron but I guess you could try a rosé with a plum and fig cake. http://www.tastespotting.com/detail/23824/Plum-and-fig-cake

    Cheers!

P.S. I’ll be sure to try the Donkey & Goat if I run across it.

I’m not sure whether I wish trophy wives would just be content to be trophy wives or simply jealous that I can’t score a cutie like Katie. Probably just jealous but watching an episode or two doesn’t qualify as “watching” your show. I won’t be rushing out to buy her cookbooks because she needs to pay her dues and gain expertise in her field to be taken seriously. I don’t think that we hard core Vayniacs have any right to put demands on episode content. The last time I looked we weren’t paying ANYTHING for the episodes. Please yourself and keep putting out your appreciated work.

  • I am a lover, an advocate, of the pink juice. I try to expose others to it, who often hate on it, and it’s a shame. I am in the strawberry/watermelon camp as opposed to the raspberry/cherry camp with the pink.

QOTD: never tried cooking with it – esp. dessert!?
