lines of the day – when Mott looks at his watch off-camera ‘you gotta be somewhere Mott?’ and possibly my favourite line so far – ‘it gets a little like a pig farted, but you didn’t get swine flu’

Some of the comments GV gets are unbelievable (such as one of the ones he reads out here), like he’s getting too commercial and over-hyping his book. I guess jerks watch these shows along with the okay crowd. This is one of the most un-commercial shows on the internet and if you didn’t realise that – you’re stupid. Great show with some hilarious descriptions

    Gary,

Sent you an email 2 weeks ago but based on what you said on today’s episode I have a feeling you didn’t read. I came across this person in a video series in the NYT and immediately thought of you and the possibility of having her on as a possible guest of WLTV. Alexandra Elman is a 40 year old “wine taster” living in the Upper East Side of NYC who happens to be blind. After listening to her story (2 minute audio link below) I thought she was a real gem and could provide new insite to the Vayner Nation. Her current clients are Tia Pol, Solera, Cru, Pure Food and Wine, NY Athletic Club, and Chambers Street Wine.

Cheers from a long time WLTV fan (over 2 years) who continues to expand his palate. (currently loving Portugese wines from the Dao region)

  • Blind Tasting from Spain! That’s what I’m talking about. Good show as always.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend and good luck to you and Lizzy! I’m guessing Monday, Memorial Day. How cool would that be?

    Cheers!

P.S. Glad you didn’t whip out my “original” Stinkor! πŸ™‚

Way to call the Cabernet on wine #1, though you did say that it wasn’t a cab at the end πŸ™‚

Great show, need to find some Priorat!

Holy crap Gary Pig farts?! I totally spit wine on my keyboard!

Great show, it just blows my mind that you and Jay Miller can be that far apart on a score…when folks buy by the rating (which I do sometimes) that’s just nuts!

QOTD: Nice do buddy, I’ve always gone to a woman to get my hair cut…but a couple months ago I had something to go to, and I needed a haircut really bad, and my beard was pretty stragley, so I dropped into the barber shop…it was such a good cut/shave/trim that I went back yesterday.

    Gary,

This is why I watch your episodes.

Your knowledge is helping me to expand my wine world and definately changing my little corner.

You are growing (as you have to) and your priorities will change (as will all of ours as well).

I hope that you can continue this series as long as possible, being a little selfish, I want all the knowledge I can get.

But even if you had to stop tomorrow, know that you have helped me so much and I will continue to grow in my wine knowledge.

QOTD – The cut is good.

Do more vertical tastings. It is great to see how vineyards change year on year and how winemakers change their methods based on fruit quality.

Gary V: I’ve been a lurker for almost two years now and this is my first comment. Sorry for the long delay, by the way. I was about to send you an email requesting a Priorat episode as it was LONG overdue, if you ask me, and then here it is. Thank you for that, I loved it, one of my favorite episodes by far. Your comment about no more shows got me kind of worried but, it is what is, if it happens (Damn, I hope you were kidding). I take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment and vision but, most importantly, for staying humble in the midst of your success. Keep up the excellent work. Thanks, Jerry S.

  • QOTD: IT’s the same haircut I give my guys. Of course I like it.
You forgot to cover pig fart in your wine palate video. That would be fun to eat. Do you think Ellen’s producer would dig on that? Or rather try it out?

Hmmm… about to retire from email responding? Must be a TV show deal to announce. πŸ™‚

Saw “Maynard” note in your email screenshot on the gv.com piece you posted last week… then this week the announcement about his bottle signing at WineLibrary.

This week the hint about retiring from email…. next week a TV show announcement perhaps? Hmmmm…

Between that and the baby, who can blame ya?

Here’s hoping you keep WLTV going throughout, even if it becomes a once or twice a week afair.

Wishing you all the best. 8)

Even if you only did one or two shows a week, we’d still all be winners son.

Love the blind episodes, the enthusiasm and passion in these episodes are big as the oak monster. Gotta say the hair looks the same, though admittedly I’m not paying much attention to it usually.

Hey Gary, great show! Love the blind format.

Listen man, don’t worry about people complaining about how you’re “commercializing” your show. All of us appreciate how much great content you pump out for free. If you want to take a few minutes out of one episode to promote your book (a book that a lot of us fans would probably be interested in), you’ve more than earned it after 680 episodes.

However, one piece of constructive criticism: I really enjoy you reading out comments on the show, but maybe think about cutting it down by a minute or two. We came here for wine, and we want wine! πŸ™‚ You could also maybe move it around, like read a few in the beginning and a few at the end.

Regardless, here’s wishing you and Lizzie a beautiful and healthy baby. Keep up the great work,

    -Zach J

The CaliCab pull on Wine #1 was epic. Love these blind tastings!!

  • Awesome !
Priorat is a favorite of mine, many of them in fact are strong full bodied wines, something I opt for in Spanish wines. ( Rioja and Campo de Borja being the other two “in your face tannins” denominations)

QOTD: Nice haircut, it does look good on you.

PS. We’ve been buying Solanes, Manyetes and Rotllan Torra between $22 and $90 USD and have never had a problem with the different vintages we’ve tried, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2004.
