Always love the flip cam episodes. This one gets a 90 just for the egg-white nuggett of information alone.

Liked the single wine format for the flip cam.

    QOTD: Facebook.

Watched you on Fallon, you were great. Fallon was… ok. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love to see the big wines that I can only dream of drinking. Its vicarious pleasure at its best. Almost voyeuristic.

Interesting learning about what a wine that’s supposed to age well tastes like now.

QOTD: I like wines that are ready to drink sooner. If it’s a 2004 and it hasn’t been drunk yet, it probably needs to be cellared, and I’m not as interested in it as a wine that’s ready now.

  • as GV said the eggwhites are used as a fining agent which removes the tiny particles that could lead to bitter tasting tanins- I would imagine they do not filter this wine-

You read my comment again! Second time! Am I banned for life? Awesome show. Yes, you hit it on the head, if I buy a hundred bone wine it better be damn good. This one sounds very disapointing. Too late to take it back? French wines are that way for me. One out of ten is worth the money. Bad QPR! I thought that egg white fining was to get out the sediment more than the tannins. Maybe it’s both. I think they shoulda used the egg Yokes.
Decant that sucker and let us know if it softens up. I had that happen with a big ass Cali cab and after 2 hours it was awesome.

Tx Kahuna. You do need your own show.

LIked the format of delving deep into a single wine with the flip cam.

Caught the Fallon show on the net today. Tornados in the area last night took out the power :O

When I think of 2004. hmmmm I really had to think about that one. Nothing live changing seemed to happen that year. I think that is the year I started to get deep into coffee. My love for coffee drove me to my love of wine. So I guess it was good year! ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW, heard some baby talking going on there in the background! LOve it! At 2+ they start to get attitude hahaha.

Nice show, I am hearing it with my headphones on and couldnยดt resist paying much more attention to your baby being pampered and your wife talking to her than actually hearing what you were saying ๐Ÿ™‚

QOTD : 2004? well I think about a 2, followed by 2 zeros and then a 4 at the end.

Nice tight show to go with the tight wine.

QOTD:Unfortunately 2004 brings back memmories of my mother’s lost battle with cancer ๐Ÿ™

Question for you GV. What 2009 wines might be on your short list to cellar for the birth of Misha?

QOTD: 2004, I think of fun and adventure — working 50 hours a week but having the time of my life as well.

Great low-key, high-info show today, Gary.

What was the $80 chardonnay you served to Fallon last night? Burg or Cali?

    Sorry this was so disappointing.

QOTD: 2004- When we decided to begin Wine Tues Girls – we started meeting every Tues to taste new wines (avg 3 bottles plus champagne) and we haven’t stopped yet!!

Gary, great show, this is why I watch your show!
2004 makes me think of some of the first Bordeaux that I drank and made me fall in love with the region: Branaire Ducru, Cos d’Estournel, La Fleur De Bouard…

Wow, as a kid I -loved- the smell of pencil shavings in those little sharpeners. Great smell reference!

This is why I’m scarred to buy a wine for $100 plus! I’d rather buy a single malt scotch in that triple digit price, that way I’m (pretty much) garaunteed my moneys worth.

Gary, I love the egg white “Wine Geek” talk. Would love to hear more of the technical aspect of wine making in the future.
