line of the day – ‘big and bright…if you like…brig fruit’

Old school episode with no messing. Just the smell, and the taste of several wines. I think GV would describe this effort as ‘focussed’.

I agree with the silliness, I am a classic silly man except I’d say at least 10% silliness 😉

I’ve been drinking CH Wines for a couple years now. Love the negociant model and the fresh, honest Costco/Internet approach to sales. Great values too (but the Cabs I’ve bought need years to come around – not for drinking now). Glad you’re covering this Gary.

    Nice episode.

    Gary – I have a couple comments for you…..

1st – Please allow Wine Library to ship to WY! Other places do, but not you guys – it is killing me!

2nd – I would love to see a GLASS episode – the same (good) wine out of different glasses. There is a ton of hype out there about this glass or that glass being best for the wine – I would love to see you test that.

    Solid show today.

QOTD: When is the next beer or scotch show? You should get Argyle Alec back on to do some Flanders Red Ales (Belgian sour ales that often show characteristics of sour cherries and balsalmic vinegar).

Either that or Cab Francs of the world. Cheers.

GV, you are the fu#*ing man. Your passion, energy and enthusiasm are second to none. You make wine fun and exciting. Keep up the good work. As soon as I have a couple extra grand to start a serious collection I am coming up to see you. And the over pour with the pinot noir blanc yesterday was priceless – you only live once so do it right the first time. And by the way GO EAGLES!!!! J_E_T_S suck suck suck.

GV – last few shows have been great. Keep up the good work.

    — how about a red sparkling show. I had a great red demi cab franc sparkler in the Loire.

  • I shop at Costco ALL the time. Love the wine selection. I’ll be looking out for this Cabernet!

It would be great if you could do more episodes focused on wines I can find at Costco, Trader Joes etc… so I can easily purchase them.

Another note, I think it would be awesome if you could film a couple episodes in random settings, outside the normal setup. I heard your dad talking about filming in his cellar… places like that would be AWESOME! Be sure to bring Mott too!!

  • Kittysafe

I find my interest wanes on the shows that are 1: Solo, and 2: tasting an unavailable wine.

Statement of the Day: Whenever you’re bored, call a friend or family member and just talk to them. We don’t spend enough time with our families.

Great show of a manageable length for watching during a break (with a glass of wine?). I haven’t quite figured out what is so fundamentally appealing about it… I’ll let you know when I have.

Comment of the day is a question for you: If you had to pick one technical component for your store, what would it be? (An online sales presence, an active Twitter presence, a swipable “loyalty” card for customers, what?)

    Enjoy the weekend!
    Tom

  • mrzitro

    great show GV.

I’m more intrigued with the Garnacha than the Cab Sauv.

Comment: Can you do a tasting show on sour cream like KAHUNA did?

  • Pros: Knee is getting back to normal after a lot of re-hab, Mariner’s are above .500 (we’ll see after this road trip), have met some really great people through wine as of late.

Cons: Work is terrible, feeling a little trapped in the role, looking for escape routes. Also, missing a great friend due to some uncontrollable circumstances.

Pros: Leaving work for the week to hang out with some good friends on a sunny Friday.

Beyond that, the only other thing to tell you is how much I appreciate all of the time you put into this great, great program. I’ve learned so much, enjoyed so many of the episodes, and my palate is ever-expanding. So… Thank you.

Gary great show, even with the technical difficulties, sometimes you’ve got to focus on one wine, but sometimes you’ve gotta plow through like 20…

SOTD1: Also, I have to say, I really like this getting to WLTV earlier in the day, breaks up my afternoon into two managable parts bwltv and awltv. Good job boys.

    SOTD2: Wherever I go, there I am.

SOTD3: My kid (9) just finished his 3rd year of space camp, with the usual model rocket launch, I got a wild hair and went and bought us some more rockets, one of which is 6 feet tall! Gary, Mott, or the vaniacs wanna come launch model rockets some weekend?

    @paryb me!
