line of the day – ‘big and bright…if you like…brig fruit’

Old school episode with no messing. Just the smell, and the taste of several wines. I think GV would describe this effort as ‘focussed’.

I just want to say, I never thought I would be a wine fan, but your show has taken the stuffiness out of the wine world. We have changed the wine world, whether they like it or not!!!!

I love a good Merlot, any suggestions.

P.S. Love your Show and keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

I just wanna say that if you told me 5 years ago that I will be watching a wine video blog everyday, I’d laugh in your face! Thanks for everything, GV!

  • Gary, I like that you covered some wines I can pick up from Costco. Not sure I would have ever tried a wine at Costco, but now I will. Thanks for the show! Have a great weekend!
p.s. Sent the email to Mott.

I’ve tried Cameron Hughes, but only the cabernet (from a different year). Looks like I did the right thing.

Comment of the day: “And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does.” -Groucho Marx, in the movie Animal Crackers

    He’s right, you know.

Never tried it, but will look for it, especially the Zin and Cab. Like the multiple, 5 to 7, wine shows. It’s almost like you know you have to keep the tempo going since you have a number of wines to taste.

    Good Job.

STOD: I wanted to say i have been a huge lurker lately and I can tell your striving for comments so i felt compelled to help. I want you to keep the show going because I have a feeling you won’t be doing this much longer. Remember Gary, WLTV is how you got your fame. This show is one of the major reasons why you have achieved in the business world. People like your character, therefore if you cancel the show, I think you will have major set-backs. You’ve got me worried bro, your dad even said it.

    Great show!
It would be interesting to me to know more about what happens on a daily basis in your business? Do you taste wine all day? Is there a wine tasting panel? From previous shows, some of your wine must come in wood boxes. Obviously some comes in cardboard. What happens to the containers? We have seen cases of wine all over the office, is that normal? Stuff like that.

Will look for the CH cab this weekend at Costco…

SOTD: Please do an event (many days, a la Thunder Cruise) on the WEST Coast (maybe a Mexican cruise?)

  • Good shows this week Gary, but it’s difficult to top that Sake episode. Beau was great.

I’d love to see you get into a regular rhythm with guests, blind tastings, laid back fridays and non-wine episodes (we really need a root beer episode).

It would also be fun to see you do a blind tasting with a guest!

Nice show…I dont consume many Cali Cabs, but you are right…if it was $16-18, I would be very interested to try that one.
QOTD: I often use your quote “we are extremely lucky…..we could be getting eaten by dinosaurs right now”. I’ve always liked your attitude about life, and your love for being a good peep. Thanks.

Quck Question GV or anyone reading/posting. I just got into drinking wine and I am trying to learn as much as I can, so thank you in advance for your help. I am unable to decant a wine by leaving it out let’s say on a counter for example, so I was wondering would it be just as good to decant it in the fridge then bring it out and let it warm back up? Will it work the same or will it neutralize the affects of decanting or destroy the nose/taste somehow? Let me know the best course I should take to enjoy the great wines of the world.

    Thank you,
    Brian

The first thing I’d like to tell you is that the main reason I still watch this show (won’t get into how long it’s been) is that you can be hilarious. “My pen exploded in my mouth and it’s delicious” was great. Also, I really appreciate that you still take the time to do this show now that you are a father. I can’t imagine how busy you now are. Remember to try to sleep enough. The last thing is one word, and if you ever read these comments (I know you do) that’s all it has to be: Madeira. Also, I’m not emailing Chris; I’m sure he’s got a lot on his plate, too, and you know my email address.

  • GV, the show is great. You are a bit loud and noisy for my style, but I still watch the show and enjoy it.

Would be fun to have you over at our winery during harvest! You should think about that.

Great episode I love it when you do cheaper wines that are available everywhere. I think It’s time you did another New York State Wine Show maybe you could even venture out to a vineyard on Long Island or out in the Finger Lakes.

    Gary,
Loved the show. I love when you rifle through many wines… and these were pretty much value wines to boot, the Sashman got to you..

    QOTD:
I think about how things never stay the same for ever…
and he reality that your drive will take you into new frontiers and away from the World’s #1 Wine Discovery Channel.

So thank you for the first 700 shows and I’ll take as many more as you are willing to sniffy sniff out

    Sincerely,

Would love to see shows on: tea, root beer, Madeira

Watercress (raw), is a sleeper: great floral aromatics in the mouth

Sao Miguel (Azores): My ancestral homeland ? it makes a beautiful, easy and relaxing trip. It?s Portugal first colony (Columbus stopped there for mass), but it?s still very old world-funky.

    Congrats on your daughter.
    Thank you for crushing it.

    Great show Gary!

    SOTD:
Legacy vs. Currency will become even more important (if that’s possible) to you as your little one grows up.

Your next wine book should pair your favorite wines with your favorite dishes, whether that be a particular dish at a particular restaurant or a recipe from the Vaynerchuk family archives.

You should get Guy Fieri from Food Network on your show. You guys appear to be two (English) peas from the same pod, and having talked to some local eateries that he’s been to, he is as genuine (genuinly funny) as he appears.
The two of you on a WLTV episode would be like gasoline and a match!!!

    Be safe

  • California Cab Lover

I have tried some of the CH at Costco and it has been hit or mss. I completely agree about the price issue, I see CH and I think value for the price. I wouldn’t pay $15 or $20 for a CH, just because I thought their “schtick” was low price for great wine.

Keep up the great work. I too am afraid you will quit this gig.

  • Gary, the more I watch this show, the more I have been appreciating not only Wine, but Beer also. I recently took a trip to Colorado where I went to many Micro-Breweries, and I was delighted to experience a whole new aspect of beer, the sniffy sniff, the dissecting of flavors, and so on. Really made me enjoy it so much more. Thanks so much for helping me realize the thunder!
