line of the day – ‘big and bright…if you like…brig fruit’

Old school episode with no messing. Just the smell, and the taste of several wines. I think GV would describe this effort as ‘focussed’.

    hey Gary

First time I’ve seen the whole show. wow. You bring so much energy. Very interesting to see you review Cameron Hughes. i was introduced to them by a friend in the biz (Sales/Catering mgr for a private club) who told me what a deal CH wines are and how well they age, and that I can pick them up at Costco. After trying a few I was thrilled to find their website and join their email list. I have taken advantage of ordering several different lots that weren’t carried at my local Costco – that’s part of the deal – not everything is distribute everywhere and it is kind of random. Most of them have been good if not great, with only one or two I wasn’t crazy about.

    Keep up the good work.

Please do a root beer show and tea show!!! I also really enjoy beer shows too, I guess what I’m saying is I dont drink a lot of wine, mainly for financial reasons, but root beer and tea can be enjoyed anytime of day even at work! Oh yeah, and this episode was really good 🙂

  • Great episode as usual, Gary. Liked seeing a variety of wines from one brand. I like it when you have preconceived notions and then have to recant, it’s entertaining and goes to show that you can’t judge a wine until you’ve given it a whirl.

Gary – I still watch you every day and am still wishing we could work something out for you to come out here and do something with the Santa Cruz Mountain Wineries . . . I just attended The Vintage Affair wine auction on Saturday, many wineries pouring their wares, and spread the gospel of Gary Vee far and wide.

It continues to amaze me how many serious wine people have not yet discovered you . . . even many of those who sell their wines to Wine Libary!!

  • Gary-

Long time lurker, first time poster, love the show. I’m a college student from your neighbor state, the one that won’t let me have anything shipped in. That being the case, I am tired of every decently priced wine that you review, not being available in the PA Wines and Spirits catalog. Could you please recommend some vino for us Pennsylvania wine lovers.

Gary, Jack Turner, semi-lurker here. I have been watching for years, since you had your “scared” face on and no big intro…I really like the show and I really like it when you get into the wines. I have been finding myself disenchanted with a good deal of the shows recently, especially the ones with a web 2.o theme. Also, with the exception of you father [best guest ever] your guests usually take away from the program. I would love to see more “nerd” episodes and keep producing shows “on location”

  • You called out the lurkers Gary, so here we are!

Great show, as usual – good to see you tasting some of “the people’s wine,” you know – the stuff you can get at a place like Costco without knowing too much about it!

SoTD: First thing first, you rock for being so willing to read comments, respond to tweets, read what people say at Facebook. It’s incredible that you’re able to keep up with people so well under such a deluge of people wanting to contact you, either because they’re fans or because they see business opportunities or because they just want to take your example. Do what you can and always stay authentic (not like you need someone to tell you this), it really makes you special when compared to a lot of other net personalities.

    Cheers!

been watching every episode since 271, love the show. my #1 reason at the moment is when you describe an aspect of a wine in completely abstractly and i feel like i know exactly what you’re talking about

  • Hey Gary

QOTD: I want to talk about chinese wine. I live in HK and thus try to try as much Chinese wine as I can it is normally pretty terrible stuff. I went to a supermarket in China last weekend and the average price of a bottle of Chinese wine was about RMB35 (US$4), yet most of these wines were about ten years old. This is, I think, one of main problems with Chinese wine and it pisses me off. Cheap wine like this should NOT be cellered (normally in terrible conditions) for ten years. These wines are normally totally ruined when opened – burnt, alcoholic and well past their best, yet the drinking public in China has the idea that old wine is good wine and thus these wines keep being sold at this age. When you taste these wines their is faint hints of past fruit under all the fire and tar, yet this fruit would have been good eight yeats ago. So anyway the thing that is really annoying me at the moment is that I can’t try a Chinese wine at two years of age, when it would actually drink well…

    Cheers
    Andrew

Love the show man. Do what you’ve got to do. I’ll keep watching WLTV as long as it’s there. Just wondering if there will be any more secret tastings?

Gary, love the lot 100 play. I have decided to stop lurking.

QOTD: I just bought a house with an unfinished basement, and am looking forward to building a cellar. All the details. None of the snoot.

  • I will be receiving my first grape vines this coming week. Lots of planning, the trellises are up, just waiting for the grower to ship the vines. Can’t wait.

Good work as always with the show. I cannot believe you are nearing 700 eps already…where has all the time gone? But in what has seemed like a flash of time, I have learned so much about wine. Thank you!

Also, I really love the episodes about cheese, beer, sake, whatever…I really credit WLTV for a lot of my knowledge regarding food and wine!

  • Nice to see CH finish strong.

Statement of the Day: This year you HAVE to do a “Train your palette at JETS Training Camp” episode. Tailgate style with mini BBQ food pairing: burgers, dogs, a little skirt steak. I’ll cook!

Interesting idea for a show. Quite a variety of wines from Cameron Hughes. I like the idea of the Flying Winemaker. I will have to see if I can find them somewhere other than Costco as Colorado law does not allow Wine sales at chains (50-50 on if that is a good idea).

SOTD: Stay enthusiastic, love your wife and child, and keep giving up great episodes and everything will be great 🙂 Remember, no matter where you go. There you are. – BB

Gary, I’ve been lurking for a long, long time, and wanted to take the time to tell you that you’ve been an enormous inspiration. You’ve been a big part of my desire to go big and hustle, both in my education and career!

Congrats on the new addition to your family, and continue to crush it!

PS I think a Sake show would be *enormous*

  • You should do a special on cask wine, or wine in plastic bottles (just saw an article in the sydney morning herald about that today) or just budget wines that you can find everywhere in the world (or at least in Australia)
