Hey GV–liked the cool, relaxed episode with the Ssssshafer 1.5–will definitely go for the ’04 if I see it.

The summer grillin’ comment reminded me that you haven’t done a zinfandel tasting since the Thanksgiving massacre of last year. Would love to see an episode on such, but then I’m biased.

Way to go, rock star–it’s been fun following you since the early teen episodes!

  • I think that’s the first sunset I’ve seen on WLTV. In 5 minutes you would have been shooting this video in the dark.

QOTD: I take the assumed fact that the NFL will be starting in the fall for granted.

Really enjoyed this. Thanks for coming back to the “old standards” that is New World thunder.

This episode had a beautiful setting… loving the evening light you had going on out there. I’m sure you don’t take that for granted…
QOTD: I’m pretty good with not taking my friends and family for granted – learned that lesson already. The biggest thing I take for granted I guess is my job, it’s boring, tedious and the usual characters are there in full force (everything a “real” job usually has) but man, it pays the bills and I’m able to afford my wine and go to some beautiful places on the weekends. Alot of people don’t have jobs right now or a barely making it, so I should appreciate it!

Hi Gary. Name’s David and I’m a fairly recent Vayniac (started around episode 600) and first time character. First off, amazing episode. I love the setting and the whole laid-back-chilling-on-the-porch-with-your-buddy feel. It’d be great to see some more of these types of episodes but not too many (after all, we all know Mott is the big star). I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your show for letting me in on serious the wine world (not whatever is the special of the week at the local liquor store) and on the alcoholic beverage world in general (the absinthe and sake episodes were great).

Q.o.D. – I think that I take less for granted but I used to take my parents for granted. I’m 21 and not hugely appreciate everything my parents have done for me and I realize how much I took my parents for granted when I was younger. Congrats on Mischa too!

QotD: I feel like i take for granted the oppurtunities I have to have a successful life. Over the last two summers between semesters at college here, I have worked at a temp agency. And I see so many guys who have to pay child support and can’t get a legit job and have trouble just making ends meet. And sometimes I find myself wishing I could travel more and have more fun and not have to worry about my budget so much. When in all honesty I have a much easier time of it than they do.

  • Ok, I got the hint. Can’t wait for the episode (just say the word).

qotd: I have to say, I honestly take a lot for granted, as I think we all do. Health, family, jobs, etc. It’s times like these where we’re reminded to step back and say “Thank You” for all we have.

    J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Sanchez!

You asked what we, the vayniacs, would like to see in the show. I have been watching for maybe 150 episodes now (this is my second comment though) and I would really like to see an episode about Cru Bourgoise from Bordeaux. I really like the value in some of those wines, so it would be nice to see what you think.

Qotd: Beeing from Sweden, I take a safe and secure life for granted.

QOTD: Entirely unimaginative and unoriginal but it has got to be my good health. I can lose an hour or a whole day sitting around worrying about the size of my next paycheck or pining for the latest toy I want but dont have (and certainly don’t need), totally immersed in the endless search for my personal El Dorado, appreciating my good fortunes only when I get an update on family member who is currently fighting for her life against brain cancer and doing it with such grace and acceptance that after my initial sense of grief passes, I am reminded through my complete sense of shame that I have once again lost sight of the obvious gifts laid at my feet each and every day. Maybe tomorrow I won’t forget yet again. Peace.

QOTD: We take Bees for granted. Albert Einstein once said: ?If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination ? no more men!? Vineyards in France seem to have roses at the end of each row of vines….I presume it is to encourage pollinators……Speaking of bees have you ever considered a show on “mead”.

Gary: What was the Leggo-look building over your R. shoulder, and the pointed pogota style building over your L. shoulder? Very cool big-city digs.
Last memorable beverage was a sparkling Spanish wine chilling out on Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Smell it first. TR

I sell the Shafer(wholesale) it remains my allocated item as you claimed. How about a Pahlmeyer episode with the newer stuff? Thats some newer classic California with a little bit of history to it. Think “Disclosure”

  • Gary, awesome show! That silkiness is what I love about California Cabs.

QOTD: Last month I took a three week trip to Italy and while I was there I realized that as an American I take for granted so much the orderliness of our country. Not that Italy is at all in shambles and I loved the change in culture, but just the simplest things like driving and placing an order at a cafe I found really messed with my OCD nature. The wine was fantastic though!

Great show. It is fun to always go back and drink something that you haven’t touch in a while.

QOTD: I think we take our health for granted. It’s easy to feel invinsible growing up and even as we get older, oftern times I have the feeling that nothing bad is going to happen even if I am not eating healthy or working out.

I like the shorter, from home relaxed shows. Great mix with the longer guest and multiple tastings shows.

QOTD: I forget to appreciate just being being alive… and that the people I care about (and myself for that matter) will not always be here.

Every 1.6 seconds someone dies, so during the short time of today’s video 6 people passed on (according to WikiAnswers.com).
