line of the day – ‘My wife has two nurses’

This guy might be a legend in the business and have a great back story, but he was just a little bit past it to make the show an entertaining one. GV did his best to tee the guy up but at 93 years of age waddayagonnado?

  • Very generous for Mr. Opici and for us to have him on the show. Very generous and kind for our WLTV to host a 93-year-old man, so full of interesting stories and history to share with us, even the 20 minutes time. Garyvee, you conducted the program very, very well. QOTD: In 25 years, I hope for peace, a better social order and justice, a better economy, and the good things in life: good health, love, family, and amazing wine!

QOTD. Not that different. Let’s hope.
Suppose that wine will be banned because of the health lobby.

BTW, nice show but a little slow.

Wow!! Another epic episode. You interviewed him so great!!! You listened to him so intently – What a vault of information this man is! Thanks GV for bringing him to us. It was so enjoyable, especially when Sasha came in ~ you can tell they were old friends!Very nice job on not rating the wine but what were the other two wines on the table???

QOTD: I have faith that it will be a better and cleaner place! And hopefully there will be more compassion in the world and understanding.

    Hi Gary,
I have seen over 600 episodes of WLTV. I am ( as you would say) a lurker. This is my first comment.
This is the fifth anniversary of my father passing away. He was 85 years old.
My father had Opici Barberone jug wine all the time. I grew up on it.
How ironic it was when I tuned in and saw the jug of Opici Barberone sitting on the table and Mr. Opici as your guest.
Opici is probably the least expensive wine you have featured on WLTV, but had the most inpact on me beacause of the memory of my dear dad.
Thank you Gary and Mr. Opici.
    Mark.

The guest is a great inspiration. I hope that I can still go to the office at 93.

QOTD: There will be a colony on Mars that the head of mining operations is hording the air supply. A future Governor from California will have a memory implant that goes wrong and he will discover that he is a secret agent and go and save the inhabitants of Mars. That is what I see happening.

Wow, so awesome that this man could talk to us all about prohibition – a very rare treat! I just hope that I’ll be as vital when I am 93!

QOTD – in 25 years I think the wine world will be even more exciting. New wines from new places, and an even more developed American marketplace.

EXCELLENT guest. What a terrific, honest, uplifting icon.

QOTD: WELL, the wine business will be even more developed in 25 years, with major distribution for Slovakia, Romania, MORE exposure for South Africa, MORE press and quality wine produced from US states other than CA, OR, and WA (such as more NY fingerlakes and Long Island juice, more RI wines in the forefront, more MI wines, etc.), Portugal will be nearly on-par with Spain in their international reputation for dry wines, and there will be a softening in pricing for top tier French and Italian wines. Oh yeah- and CHINA will officially be on the scene for value-priced “international varietal” (read: French) wine production. Cheers.

    Awesome show Gary, terrific guest!!

Is that Barberone a magnum? From what grapes it?s made?
Could you put the info on the other wines on the site? Especially the Cesare.

QOTD: In 25 years: Making world-class wines here in Northeastern Brazil. ๐Ÿ™‚

Congratulations Mr. Opice! Thanks GV for bringing so nice guests to the show.

For more on Mondavi, read “The House of Mondavi: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty” by Julia Flynn Siler. Very good book. I gives a broad view of the birth of California fine wine and the huge influence of Robert Mondavi.

    Best wishes,
    Mauricio Fernandes.

Fun episode. Like a step back in time.
That guy may have invented time.
Love how he made Gary drink by moving the bucket. Screwed!
I am also assuming you hated the wine and didn’t want to embarrass the man with a 70 point rating.
    QOTD: Peace on earth

GREEEAAATT episode!! def one of the best i’ve seen thus far. I really love the historical aspect, especially it coming from firsthand perspective. Really really great!! Can we have more guests like that??!!

QOTD: global warming spiraling out of control; money and power still ruling the world; poorer getting poorer, the richer getting richer, the sicker sicker, the hungry hungrier…and so on….not to be a pessimist :-/

Awesome! Nice show. Gary actually listened to his guest. ๐Ÿ˜‰

QOTD: In 25 years, God willing, I’ll still be here enjoying some wine and annoying all of my friends and relatives. I hope the world will be a little nicer place to live for more of the population.
