awesome show, loved the way the 2000 Bordeaux have been showing. I also appreciate the “value” plays in this episode, while not cheap they aren’t pumping $250, $300, $700 a bottle, etc.

QOTD: I have no idea, I was like 12 back in 2000.

  • Jan 1, 2000 marked the start of a healthy new me.

9 Years later I’m self-employed, working in the fitness industry and loving it!

    2000 was a good year!

I love it when you get a great bottle Gary. It makes me excited about wine – and feel good knowing you get to treat yourself to something special considering all the “other stuff” you partake of for our sakes.

QOTD: 2000 was the best of times, the worst of times. I found out my lady was steppin’ out with an old flame while we were together, but also landed a new job where I made way more jack. I’ve been there since.

  • St Julien is my favourite region of Bordeaux under-rated or not… always tastes a bit better when it’s not breaking your wallet 🙂

Lovely balcony you got there Vaynerchuk! Loving the views.

    Wow.
I must have this wine. Only the ’96 vintage is available here .. Oh well. Guess i’ll have to give it a “whirl” and see, eh?
QOTD : 2000 = waiting for the crash, which never happened. And partying like it was 1999 (which it finally was).

QOTD: 2000 was spectacular for me, I spoke in front of audiences around the world and exceeded 155,000 in the rooms. peak of my speaking experience. who cares? well, me.

  • Hey Gary

Thanks nice show; simple, to the point and informative. That Bordeaux sounds like an absolute cracker of a wine.

QOTD: Best think about 2000? Would have to be traveling – in France and Italy with my bro, Paris with a great mate and south-west England with my Granny.

It is great to see you so pumped about a wine. The best thing about 2000 was the people I was working with. My boss and colleagues were wonderful and I miss many of them.

Great episode and enjoyed the wines even though my actually having them is probably far removed.

QOTD – Was just enjoying life and work back then, became the property and evidence officer for my agency at that time and had a huge learning curve and inherited a mess. Got it sorted out to a large degree when I turned that responsiblity over to another in 2003.

Wow! Wow! I am so pumped that you are so pumped about the wines today. After NY Wine Week and those generally sucky wines, this was a revelation. While I don’t have either of these wines, I have three cases of 2000 Bordeaux in my cellar and it may be time to try some!!! Thanks, GV!

QOTD: The best thing about 2000? Spending a month in Istanbul and celebrating my first wedding anniversary. Awesome year.

QOTD: My younger son was born in Sept 2000.

The color of those wines looked amazing. From the first swirl, I wanted to reach out and grab it. The outdoor lighting added a deliciousness.

  • Nice fun, short show. Difficult NOT to get excited about that 2000 Chat Branaire Ducru.

QOTD: My wife and I were living and working in Israel when the Second “Al-Aqsa” Intifada broke out in September 2000. The only good thing I can say about that is that we both survived.

QotD: Dan & I got married in 2000. He loves it because it is easy to calculate how long we have been married!

Those wines looked great and sound wonderful. I wonder how much longer they would keep (as a wedding anniversary wine for us)?

    Hello Gary .

A litlle message to you, i am agree With You Chateau DUCRU BRANAIRE 2000 , is a realy good and fantastic Wine .Near chateau Beychevelle in ST Julien of the Medoc wine

Saint Julien is undoubtedly the most underestimated of Bordeaux area. Near 910 Ha Land. The appellation Saint Julien is near from the one of Pauillac. The château Latour and the château Léoville Las Cases are close neighbors. The wines of Saint Julien are very pleasant wines.
You have to keep this wine around 10-12 years and 20 years and more for The GRANDS CRUS.

Sorry for my English, because i am from FRANCE and i live near BORDEAUX, bassin d’Arcachon.

a question GARY ! Do you Know CHATEAU BOYD CANTENAC 2000 near Margaux .
They do also Clos Maucailloux Haut MĂ©doc

Have a nice Day .. Here in France NICE sky an a sunny day…

    A bientĂ´t Gary

  • I’d love to buy some of that Cru but Alabama has archaic shipping laws.

QotD: Went to Spain for the first time, experienced their wine country, and their amazing culture. Probably the first time I thought seriously about the goodness of wine.

2000 is my favorite vintage in the last 10.

The wines are just starting to come around and I am blown away by your review of Branaire.

I am now glad that I have 3 1/2 cases.

Will have to try a bottle this weekend.
