Don’t do cold cereal, too sweet, and could never mix milk and wine without upset stomach.
    Oatmeal is much better.

QOTD: Golden (formerly the politically incorrect Sugar) Crisp! I can’t believe you left it out of the rotation. Have you no shame 🙂

f the milk. just pour the wine directly in the bowl.
    qotd: cinnamon life.

  • Still watching now but I have to say, this sounds like an old George Carlin routine…
?What wine goes with Captain Crunch? I have a hard time picking out a wine in the early morning.?

interesting show. love the wine pairing episodes even better. but can I ask does the amount of milk in the spoon have an affect on the taste of the wine, especially for the higher acid wines. seems like you would get some curdled milk action with that riesling.

Gary, Gary, Gary. What are you thinking?
Personally, I wouldn’t put milk on any of those cereals. Apparently you like them, but do yourself a favor, and don’t read the “nutrition” info on the side of the box. {will probably give you your sugar and salt intake for the week].
You have a wee one now Gary. Eat healthy.
    QOTD.
    A tie:
    Safeway’s bite sized shredded wheat
    or
    Kashi GoLean Crunch. Yum………

You picked my favorite: CTC are incedible.

If you’re pairing a wine with cereal, you’ve got bigger problems than finding the right pairing of wine with cereal.

QOTD: Ezekial w/ Almonds. It’s kind of a hippy grapenuts sort of deal.
It’d most likely pair best with a Chablis, I’m guessing.

top twenty! Great show. I thought I was a hater of Captn Crunch berries but looking at it, maybe I’ve never had it.
I like nutty, fruity stuff. 4 in one or something it’s called is ok but pretty sweet. I’m looking for fiber and not much fake sugar. Fruits and nuts!

Gary – Two concerns with this episode and I’ve only gotten through the Captain Crunch segment so far:

1 – You don’t talk about (let alone analyze) the ingredients in the cereal.
2 – You don’t talk about what type of milk you’ve put on your cereal and how that might impact the flavor as well, compared to eating the cereal by itself.

Love the show, but would have appreciated more “wine nerd” analysis of this pairing. 🙂

Strong show GV, but I’m a “no milk” guy on my cereal. I don’t like that gooshy texture, which makes my favorite cereal a little surprising….

QOTD: Frosted Mini-Wheats. Try doing that with no milk. It takes commitment, brother.

Any chance of a re-visit for cereal without milk? It looks like many of us Vayniacs are on the same page. I’m surprised you didn’t go chenin blanc or Sauternes, though. Keep #CrushingIt and ignoring the critics. That’s why we love you in the first place.

ps – Fantastic selection of cereals, those are easily the three greatest cereals of my youth 😀

Runners’ up: Frosted Flakes and Honey-Nut Cheerios.

Btw, the way you crushed the Cap’n Crunch, I would hope Nabisco or whomever (General Mills? i forget) hooks you up with a lifetime supply. 😉

    Great fun!

Gary, how is your knee doing btw?

QOTD: Hard one to decide, I love cereal. For now I’ll go with Apple Jacks. BTW, I prefer my cereal crunchy – pour the milk and begin eating within seconds.

Nice show dude, you make me laugh the way you enjoy those cereals so much.

How are you feeling about the Jets #2 game?? I am not going to say any more
    🙂

QOTD: This is an easy one….Lucky Charms…hands down
