  • QOTD: Cookie Crisp

For those that are cereal lovers and looking for a deal, check out Target (Market Pantry) generic cereals. The Marshmallow Treasures are EXACTLY like Lucky Charms, half the price. Market Pantry is the Portugal of the cereal world.

  • Derek F.

Nice show dude, you make me laugh the way you enjoy those cereals so much.

How are you feeling about the Jets #2 game?? I am not going to say any more
    🙂

QOTD: This is an easy one….Lucky Charms…hands down

  • I love Rice Crispy Treat cereal. It gets mistaken with Rice Crispies. Aint the story here, though. Rice Crispy Treat cereal, it’s discontinued. 🙁

This one needs to go to the right side of the screen. A Classic! You
have only mentioned Cinnamon Toast Crunch about 100 times in the last year.
(Vaniyacs please! How about a Cinnamon Tost Crunch montage?).

QOTD: For pure hedonistic purposes look no further that Resese Peanut
Butter Cup cereal. BTW – Coco Puffs and Las Rocas Garnacha. It’s
    all about the shaved chocolate!!

Great show, and it shows how much you enjoyed producing this one. You were smiling from ear to ear for the entire episode.

QOTD: Boring as it is, Rice Krispies for some reason, with Lucky Charms a close second. Cap’n Crunch is too sweet for me. :-/

And as a Sub-QOTD: I like my cereal crunchy. Soggy cereal is gross, to me.

  • Soggy cereal is miserable Gary and so is warm milk. It loses all of its texture and goodness. What a groundbreaking show by the way.

    Crispix (no milk)

    Next show idea:

Does 10 year old Bordeaux really pair well with everything?

    Burgundy and Strawberry Poptarts?

  • I can handle the cereal with the wine…but the milk, yikes!!

QOTD: Oatmeal. For those of us watching the cholesterol, a nice red with some Honey Nut Cheerios could be interesting.

  • I’ve been off cereal lately but I had to go and get a small bowl of Kellogs Rice Krispies after watching this. I used to like Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and Cinnamon Toast Crunch but I find them too sweet these days.

  • To me, these types of shows are what makes you such a hero and icon to me. You go out on a very short limb and dare someone to come by with a saw. Yes, you have talked about cereals, esp the “CC” for eons and now he has done it! I don’t see the problem with Demi-Sec or a nice Chard during a Sunday brunch? After my Eggs Benedict I roll up to the cereal stand and scarf down a bowl of the CC as you did this evening.

Do you remember years ago where the multi-paks had small boxes of cereal with a perforation on the top and you would cut it and pour the milk in the box! That was heaven!

    Great show, loved it!

QOTD: Like Hugh above, I destroy Capn Crunch with Crunchberries. This is one time there’s not even a close #2.

    Cheers!

P.S. Andre Johnson will score at will on Sunday. Sorry but the Texans are good.

Gee, your “Play” buttons beside the “Wines tasted in this episode” often don’t go to the right place. I’ve been noticing this for a few weeks now.

  • CTC fo life! Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty your favorite cereal’s favorite cereal.

I love Reislings, but I’m definitely going to give the Chardonnay a try with my next CTC fix.

Great show – I’m definitely going to have to try the Capn Crunch + Spatlese pairing! And not gimmicky at all – what other than convention states that you can’t drink wine with cereal?

QOTD – In the mornings I like Shreddies, but for that little treat, that extra sweetness, late at night or after a long day, Crunchy Nut Clusters are my favourite.

Hi Gary, Do you remember a little known cereal called “Freakies”? It came in a smaller box like a Grape Nuts box. Great show.

    Hey Gary,

Great idea for a show! I never would have thought of pairing cereal with wine. I guess that’s why you do a show and I watch it!! But I must say, watching you eat cereal sort of killed my appetite!

QOTD: Any cereal with cranberries in it – especially with almonds too.

I don’t know what it was, but I just laughed and laughed and enjoyed seeing you happily munch away on that Cap’n Crunch. That long period of silence was awesome.

Definitely have been looking forward to the cereal/wine pairing episode. Good stuff, gary.

I am disappointed about one thing that I must mention. The cereal that you love is pronounced Cap’n Crunch. Not Captain. No T. Not trying to be a jerk, just helping ya out. If you want to get serious about Cap’n Crunch, now’s your chance.

QOTD – There used to be a cereal called S’mores. It was basically golden grahams with chocolate and marshmallows. The best of all worlds.

    Peace

QOTD: Favorite cereal? As a kid: Captain Crunch (and yes it ripped up the roof of my mouth!), and Life. As an adult: the combo of Cherrios, Grape Nuts and raisins.

Nice show, Glad you address the “over talking” situation.

The pairing was a good idea, really caught a lot of people by surprise.

QOTD: I’m a cereal “MIXER” I like to mix Frosted Flakes and Cinnamon Crunch. or Fruity Pebbles and Lucky Charms.

But I Don’t mess with Capt’n Crunch, best by it’s self.

  • Oh you blew it! You should have had Chaim from CG di Arie on your show. That would have brought it full circle as he invented Cap’n Crunch and now makes awesome Zins!

Good show. Love it when you pair wines (I agree cereal was a must)
Don’t worry about interrupting when you have guest, your just being you. If you weren’t GaryV, the show wouldn’t be half the hit. (Just my opinion)

QOTD: My favorite cereal has always been Raisin Nut Bran and I have no idea why

  • QOTD: Although I do like the sweet cereals, like you had on this episode, from time to time. My all time favorite is Post (they make it the best) Raisin Bran.

I think of it more old world than the new world (California sunshine, if you will) sugary cereals like the Cap’n. There’s a earthiness that dominates with hints of dark fruit in the background.
