Great skills Gary. We could see you holding back to let him finish his thoughts. Good restraint.
QOTD You did a great job, very humble and a little nervous but I think we got the real you.
Sounds like you have a great reputation and press which makes me wonder why you feel the need to go to Jersey to sell your wares. Is it the nature of the beast and you need to push the wine, or do you enjoy the sales part.

I had the great fortune to taste the 07 and 08’s poured by Mr. Shea earlier this year at his new winery. While the 07’s are fabulous wait until you try the 08’s, they will knock your knickers! Shea is not only the premier wine grape grower in Oregon, he is a master craftsman of pinots wine as evidenced by these wines.

      QOTD…Dick…you were fantastic!

GV..I was on Shea’s allocation list until this economy hit me in the arse. When I got off the list, I received a personal email from Dick wishing me the best of luck. Great Vineyard, great wine, great people.

QOTD: Yes indeed, Dick, you did”good!” Both today, and ever since you started growing and making wine.

And as a personal aside to you, Gary,.. you did great today! Thank you for the personal response a few shows ago. I was really proud of you today.

Nice show, looked like spectacular wine…Gary you rocked the interview this time, and QOTD: Dick, you did well…I’m looking forward to trying some of your wine one day.

Question for Gary, what’s the deal with the fiddy cents on the table, wasn’t that there in the last WLTV as well?

      Great episode,

Gary I was just wondering what your opinion of Brettanomyces or ‘brett’ in wine is? I dont think you’ve ever adressed it on WLTV???? do you see it as a fault? or adding complexity? Winemakers dont seem to want to talk about it and it seems to be almost like a tabboo subject in wine. I hardly ever even see reviews write about it in tasting notes.

    • This is my first time commenting, but I’ve been watching religiously for a bout a month now.
Great show today. I found it interesting that Dick had never heard your fragrance descriptions for his wines before, do you find that people often don’t share your opinions when you taste wine with them? I have not yet tasted a wine you have had on the show, so I can’t say.

Also I just received two wines from Mumm Napa, the Sparkling Pinot Noir and the Cuvee M Red (Mumm’s featured wines this month). The opening instructions start with the words ‘After Chilling’, does that mean these wines need to be chilled. I know they are sparkling but the are also red wines… What to do?

QOTD: Dick you were very real and humble, you did very well.

      Gary,

I have been watching the show for about 6months now and have enjoyed it greatly!
Recently you have been taking a beating on the forums for interrupting your guests. While some attribute you?re interrupting to a lack of manners, your energy or enthusiasm, I think those have no basis. For anyone who has spent any time in Jersey or working with individuals from Jersey there is a fundamentally ingrained trait! They always interrupt people! It isn?t good and it isn?t bad. Its just like a Boston accent, it take a little bit of time to get use to it. So keep on interrupting your guest and evaluating wine, I consider it the norm.

Not only does Oregon produce great QB’s (Clemmens) wine as well!

Thanks gary for the great show, hopefully some of the other Oregon winemakers will make it out your way.
