Great episode, great guest. Good to see GV chatting with someone on his exact same wavelength and especially when the subject is his favourite category, sparkling wines. Really enjoyable

  • This episode was so Sir Gary, and I loved it. Joshua Greene is also fantastic: knowledgeable and passionate, the best combo.

Really good start. The nerd factors was turned up to 11. Can’t wait ’till part 2.

The SF event sounds like a great one. Too bad things of that nature rarely (never) make it to my neck of the woods.

Good show so far. Great guest. I too am wondering how you store the bottles over those few days. I have had some wines improve, and some deteriorate slightly, and some fall apart after decanting a few hours. I would guess that the tannins the more it will stand up? Its hard to believe that sparkling wine doesn’t go flat.

What a great guest!! Composed, confident in his palate, and well spoken. Plus, he brought his major A game wines…2 hundred pointers for the visit – you’re being spoiled rotten, you jerk!!! AND MAKE SURE TO TRY THAT CRISTAL ON CAMERA THE SECOND DAY. We’re dying to know how it turns out!!

  • Gary, I love it when you nerd it up. I agree with John J. Jura should be a place you start to look into and being a Canadian boy, I highly recommend going on a Niagara riesling binge.

  • Great Show Gary,

The technical aspects of the show and interaction between you and Joshua was perfect. This was a great listening episode.
Would love to taste a Cristal.

I am a big fan of tasting wines 2-3days after I open them – they always taste better!!!

Great episode, interesting guest – looking forward to tomorrow.
As for the informal QOTD, pt. 1: I would very much like if you would seek out and review wines from Canada’s Okanogan Valley. I know that you have reviewed a few Canadian icewines in the past but there are many other exciting varietals being made in this region. In particular, I am fond of Ganton & Larsen Prospect Winery and Gehringer Brothers Estate Winery, both of whom make a delicious Riesling, among others. I am new to appreciating wine but with every new British Columbian wine I “discover”, I believe that they compare very favorably to wines from Washington State, Oregon and even California.

Great show and guest Gary! You have realy improved your interviewing skills!
*pats the G. man on the back*
I need decanting advice from anyone out there please. I have decanted two wines for four hours. A Guigal Cotes du Rhone and a Bogle petite sirah. To me they both lost bouquet and flavor. I liked them better fresh from the bottle. Is it me or the wines? Anyone from the peanut gallery who would like to encourage a person new to wine please reply.
Oh and gary, keep it geeky.

New wine region instead of Portugal is South Africa, particularly Walker Bay region. Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson are the top producers over there.

Thanks for the good show GV

This was great, ya’ll dropped mad knowledge. It’d be great if specific places in the US started to be known and recognized for different varietals the way California is for Cabernet.
