93/100

lines of the day – ‘It’s like having a guy wearing overalls in New York City. It’s out of place at some level’ and ‘Supersilk Mott….like your sheets at home’

As with the wines, this episode got better on the second day. great guest, really informative and entertaining banter…very well ‘balanced’

I definitely still buy it, I like it a lot. I do try to buy different things. In general i’m large on bordeaux, the cote rotie and the P.V. – Good show G.V.

QOTD– I have a mixed case of Diamond creek on order- YEH. Also Blackbird vineyards, and I’m a fan of Lamborn Cab & Zin.

I really enjoyed this episode. Was happy to see tha Diamond Creek. It seems like you avoid the Big Names because some don’t see them as value. I like Value, but I also like when you review some legendays greats– like the last 2 episodes. Thanks for the diversity on WLTV

  • I tend to buy most of my wines in the $20-$40 range and there just really isn’t any California Cabernet that is worth the money in that price range. I can get much cheaper/better stuff from Washinton in that range if I’m in the mood for Cabernet (which isn’t often). With reds I buy Oregon Pinot and Burgundy (when I can find a good deal), tons of Beaujolais, Northern Rhone Syrah, and all over the Loire Valley. I’ve also had lots of luck recently with Austrian and German reds.

  • Great, Great Show,

We need more shows with more nerdy guests (nerd meaning fantastic indepth wine knowledge)…Joshua was a great guest, well done.

QOTD…I don’t buy Cali Cab, I like Cali Pinot instead…many high-end cali pinot producers have been selling plenty of wine during this economic crisis, not sure about the cali cab producers??

  • John R

Honestly, I am looking for quality. Currently I am buying lots of 2000, 2003, 2005 Bordeux, 2nd 3rd growths, great pricing. I just bought a case of 2005 Burg, 1st cru 1/2 price. Cali cab going into the economic crisis was expensive versus Bord and Burgs. I really like Cali, but quality to price, burg and bord is better. I think a lot of producers are happy mailing list sellers, ie 2007 Pinots sales. I think that if 2009 is a blockbuster in Bordeaux and they keep the pricing reasonable, below 2005 and above 2008 futures, Cali Cabs might suffer. Tony Turato said it in regards to the Stags Leap wine he sells, most of the price is the land.
