90/100

lines of the day – ‘This wine is one thing and that thing is suck ass’ and ‘you all have that friend who brings nothing charismatic to the table’

This episode gets 90 points for the set alone but shame about the wines which were all disappointing. GV on form though

    1. Ghostbusters
    2. Ozzy, because the “Prince of Darkness” theme could go so many ways with wine, IMO
    3. Lewis Black (I nearly cry laughing every time he opens his mouth. Search for his water skit on Youtube)

  • 1) Best Bill Murray Movie: Scrooged

    2) Celebrity Wine: Alton Brown. He’s so scientific with his food, I imagine the wine would be like a chemistry experiment to find perfection.

    3) Favorite Celebrity: Sasha Vaynerchuk

Show/guests weren’t that inspiring. The reference to the Celtic Robert Parish made the show for me, especially coming from GV that so dislikes Boston teams. Wait a minute, where did AJ go to school??

That’s why celebrities shouldn’t make wine unless their passionate about.
They just slap their name on something to make money.

    1) Stripes followed by Caddy Shack and Groundhog Day.

  • Different episode, no “nerd” content which I’ve been liking lately, so I can’t say I learned anything from the episode, but I like celebrity and pop culture stuff, so it was fun to see the wines-even though they weren’t that great. I’m glad the guests actually watch the show and sniffy sniffed with you and didn’t just give it a whirl right off the bat. I’m always let down when your guests come on your show and you can tell they’ve never watched it, as they have no clue what the “etiquette” should be or what the QOTD is. How rude.

    1. None of them!
    2. Prince William comes to mind–I’d think they’d be classy, smooth, and drinkable while young.
    3. Of course Gary, Mott, Sasha, and the rest of the WLTV clan.

Yeah I stay away from the celebrity wines because I assume most are uninspired wines with just some celeb’s name/face pasted across the bottle, and an above average price tag. But sometimes celebs do it for charitable purposes too..
    QOTD
1 In addition to the classics, I like The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums.
    2 Gary V Riesling, 10 bones
    3 Jerry Seinfeld

QOTD 2: David Hyde Pierce (Niles in Frasier)
    QOTD 3: Dalai Lama

As bad/mediocre as this flight of wines was this episode’s audio was an order of magnitude worse.

I had my volume at Spinal Tap 11 and could barely hear GV and of course most of time we couldn’t hear the guests at all.

Is it too much to ask to do a sound check prior to recording? Takes all of, let me see, 1 minute.

no favorite celebrity and don’t care which one makes a wine

favorite Bill Murray movie: Coffee and Cigarettes

I didn’t like this episode. The set annoyed me. I have no way of relating to these guests or respecting what they do. I find it, frankly, dismaying, to see anyone be so obsessed with popular culture. I am more disappointed by the fact that apparently these guys have a viewership. Sorry. I like when you have guests that can contribute to a discussion about wine. I rarely like the guests who are trying to promote themselves. I get that you, Gary, are into that kind of thing, but why drag down your show to support people like that? If you want to have some “Vayniacs” on, have some of the longtime ones from the forum.
