90/100

lines of the day – ‘This wine is one thing and that thing is suck ass’ and ‘you all have that friend who brings nothing charismatic to the table’

This episode gets 90 points for the set alone but shame about the wines which were all disappointing. GV on form though

  • Not my favorite show, but it’s ok to mix it up a little.

QOTD 2: Angelina Jolie. She makes any wine at all some day, and I’ll buy it by the cases.

QOTD 3: Gary Vaynerchuk, Mott, Sasha, Robert Parker

Gary V is clearly suffering from “Jets Lag.” An undefeated team will cloud your head, but the Saints will clear all that up soon.

This was unlistenable for me. Turned it off after 2-3 minutes.

These two guys seem like very nice fellows…felt bad for how nervous they looked the whole time, though!

    QOTD:
    1) King Pin – “Hi… Not you… Hi.”
    2) An artist with good taste, how about G. Love!
    3) Jack Johnson

What was up with the sound? (Yes, yes, I complain a lot.) Messrs. Kaufman and Hess did all right as guests, though.

    QOTDs:
    1) I’d rather stick a fork in my eyes than watch Bill Murray in anything. (So that would be a “none.”)
    2) Don’t care, as long as they know something about wine.
    3) Well, Mott of course; stretching the definition of celebrity a bit, Joss Whedon.

I am not surprised by the reviews this session. Wine Spectator did an article a few months ago. The ratings sucked. I am sure the only reason they got a spot in the mag was because of $$$$. Questions of the Day:
    1. Ground Hog Day (2nd place Broken Flowers)
    2. Francis Coppala’s wines
    3. Meryl Streep

    Gary,

I am not one to complain nor to throw you under the bus, but this is clearly not the best thundershow. Giving the understatement that the sound sucks, the background is horrific and the guests are unwatchable and dull, this episode is the best MEH of the year. Given the drama of the Jets victory and the day of, I am left wanting. Clearly Mott has gained a little more street cred in Vayner nation tonight. At least you lowered the price of the Legras Rose so I did score a little love with me today.

  • Conclusion, not a great selection of celebrity endorsed (labeled?) wines.

QOTD1: “Groundhog Day” tied with “Lost in Translation” and “Stripes”, and I am going out on the side a bit, “Scrooged”.

QOTD2: I would like to see if David Duchovny would try his hand at wine making and/or Endorsing, because of his strange movie/TV career and great roles.

    QOTD3: MOTT!

    ( I don’t actually have one…)

2.I think Crispin Glover, Christopher Walken, Gary Busey, and Dennis hopper should all get together and do a blend.
3.dont really have a fav celeb.
Not surprised by the turnout on these wines at all. always pretty leery about celebs doin wines, but I’ve had a few of Maynard’s and he is doing some quality stuff.
Hey Gary, how about maybe doing an episode on vin jaune’s for us?

You should give the Skull Vodka by Dan Aykroyd a wirl and see if it is any better then his wine

  • A dumb Rhine king

That was a very bubbly, pink ep.

The Crystal Skull vodka, not only is it in the coolest bottle ever, is really good. I tasted that and Grey Goose side by side and I loved the Crystal Skull ten times more … plus 1.

    QOTD1: Caddyshack.
QOTD2: Johnny Depp, I think he would bring a lot of passion and creativity.
QOTD3: Mott, but that’s a given, also -funny you should mention- Maynard, if he didn’t already make wine I would have put him as QOTD2. I’ve always enjoyed his music and wine for the same reasons as I said for Johnny.

  • Cool Dave

Favorite Bill Murray movie is Scrooged.

The Mottster is my favorite celebrity of all time!!!

    Mott’s wine:
The “Mott-Smell The Poop 100% Granache” from the Loire.
The bottle should have a picture of Mott’s face inhaling some terroir!
