I am a big fan, but with regard to your supermarket wine episode, the word is “respectively”, not “respectfully” when describing the price points of the wines.

I’m thankful for supermarket wine. Keeps a good majority of shoppers away from my specialty stores. I don’t like fighting over wine.

Gary, I am glad I got to witness one of the rare moments in WLTV history, a Gary Sneeze. Good hustle, a Lean Mean show. Way to bang it out.

A few weeks ago a friend donated a few empty bottles of the French House Merlot for the home wine making efforts, said it was OK but also mentioned the vegetal quality. To help out ‘Jay’ above…the green quality in wines is associated with the methopyrazines, not a big deal in sauvignon blanc but not necessarily appreciated in red wine (unless you are GV and the other 6%). It is often associated with under ripe fruit, hard to ripen varieties, and cooler climates.
A flaw to some, and complexity to others. Probably why GV likes his Cab Franc based Chinons so much.
GV will probably appreciate some of the red wines that are starting to come out of the northern states like MN and VT…they are in their infancy and “green-ness” is one of the major challanges along with limited tannin structure.

Hey, as long as you are doing supermarket wines maybe it is time to do another episode of the box wine show. Wine Spectator just covered boxes in their Under $20 value issue (they are trying to catch up to your popularity) and there were some 87 point scores…

Just a little fun fact about the show: Gaucho, part of the name of the Malbec wine, (pronounced: Ga – uh – Cho) are a people from south Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
