  • Always great to nerd it up once in a while. I’ve seen that decanter a thousand times and never put that together with champagne.

    The more you know…

    GARY!!!
    Jennifer!!

Yay!..for strong, pretty, brainy & accomplished women! :o)
(BTW, is it just me? Jennifer could be Jodie Foster’s long lost sister!)

I understand leaving wine in an open bottle is not the same as decanting it…but doesnt “time” have anything to do with it. Small spout allowing air in, but if I open a bottle and let it sit for 4+ hrs, its def. breathing…

Gary, if you have me cohost the show, I also know some Science…I know a bit about Chemistry..and a whole lot about Biology LOLOL πŸ˜‰ xox
    Lookn forward to Part Deux!

What happen to the days of simply cutting the top off a bottle of champagne with your sword before riding off into battle??? I don’t know if I can ever enjoy another bottle of champagne knowing all that science behind it….doesn’t mean I won’t try! πŸ˜‰

    Thanks, Dr. V

  • Great, a true scholarly episode. She’s a wonderful guest.

I saw someone in a wine shop decant a Champagne bottle last year in December for the holiday events season and thought it was strange but he told me how it would show the quality of the bottle, just as your guest explained.

    This is fantastic.

Jenny, you can train me anytime! Gary, do a third episode when Jen is tipsy so that we can get beyond the ‘nerd’ factor. Also, that champagne decantor is so ridiculous; how many washings do you Vayniacs think it would take before the skinny neck gets broken? I’m sure they are well over $100. a pop.
    Smell it first. TR
