Couldn’t agree more about the horrible packaging on the Pehu. Unfortunately I’m not a P Diddy style baller so won’t be trying it

QOTD: I like Perrier Jouet Fleurs because of the bottle mostly, but I liked a Duval Leroy better. I’m looking forward to a Cristal for the holidays. I’m the only one I know who is interested in champagne, so I don’t get to try it a lot.

God that cheesy $80 bottle looked like some dime store bubble bath ( good luck moving that one in my store.). My best champagne would be Bolinger RD 1973. Nothing quite like it. Yeasty old word baked artisan bread with lemon curd with lively little bubbles that went down with the smootness of silk and a perfect mineraly acidic balance. Just remembered the Champagne not the moment decades ago.

Just compare that 80 dollar Pehlu, it blows away wines costing 150 dollars.. so think about that..

QOTD: Don’t have nearly as much Champagne/sparkling wine experience as I do with other wines, but best experience was drinking champagne (real champagne!) in my French class in Grenoble, France at 10:30 am the day after Obama was elected.

Short and sweet. Not bad, and I can role with it.

QOTD: I cant remember the last time I had Bubbles. Sorry, but not preference to speak of. But, in general I’m not big on the bubbles, mostly because every time I try it, it just didn’t do anything for me. Its like The Family Guy. Everybody I know loves the show, but watching is just annoying. However I’ll be revisiting the bubbles this holiday season.

QOTD: Bubbles are not generally my thing. Bubbly prices are so high that the overall QPR is low. I did have some Duval-Leroy at a tasting I went to recently, though, that may make me rethink a little. Their ordinary NV brut was pretty good, and at $30-$35/bottle doesn’t completely break the bank. I’m not a high roller, so that price still makes it strictly a special occasion thing, but good enough to be worth considering.

QOTD: We enjoy bubbles but never stray too far from Napa, Mumm and Tattinger.

Nice tight show. Love it. I’m a big fan of Gaston Chiquet and Pierre Peters. Very different, but both make me swoon time and time again. Chiquet is perhaps the best sushi wine I know of.

I’ve never had the oportunity to get too much into bubbly, but I tell you what GV, with all the shows you’ve done recently on sparklers, I’m gonna have to go out and do some “experiencing”. Cool show, still, I like the long shows as they show your realness and more of your kickass personality to all of us. Thanks!

QOTD best champagne I ever had was at my highschool graduation (dating myself since I was legal) a 1970 Taittinger Comte de Champagne Blanc de Blanc Brut balancing acid, yeast, cream, and the tiniest bubbles

  • My wife and I took a bottle of Veuve Clicquot’s 1988 Rich Reserve to our honeymoon dinner at the French Laundry. It made for some nice pairings, older sparklers like that are my fave. This one had teeny teeny bubbles, nice and carmel tasting, honey all over my face.

    Keep the bubble shows coming!

It has been twenty five (25) years since I last had bubbles. Cannot recall the brand, or any other details except that it was the night of my second wedding. No more details.

  • Grabbing a glass of Dom from a baller’s magnum at Tryst night club at Wynn Las Vegas. He probably paid $1500 for the bottle, beats were pumping, ladies dancing and it was a very very good night that saw the sunrise before going to bed.
