Now we all love Gary and we love the show, but this guest was just too starstruck and psychophantic to do himself justice. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he seemed a whisker away from wanking GV off…and that is an image I’m desperately trying to erase from my mind!

AHHH Brilliant episode!!! Steve was a fantastic, passionate guest–mad props. Without spending $$$ on 50 copies of your boo (I am far too broke) what can I do to get on an episode of WLTV?!?!

QOTD: Similar moment to yours Gary, except mine was in college, my first year of legal drinking age at a senior class wine tasting event sponsored by the Class of 2009 Committee. A glass of 2007 Cantina di Taburno Falanghina. To this day, probably my favorite white varietal. I was tasting the fruit, the flowers, and it just blew my mind. Been a wine nut ever since.

  • First thing, great passionate guest. I love that he bumped Jamie Oliver out of the top spot in the UK (I am a huge fan).

QOTD – I moved to Sacramento in ’97 and was introduced to both Napa and Cabernet by a co-worker. Silver Oak (when it was SILVER OAK), BV and V Satui broke me into what wine and the love of wine (especially at V Satui) could be. I took full advantage of the ’94 vintage and have never looked back.

Steve is a great guy. That’s an awesome story of how he got on the show. I’m definitely going to check out his site.

AOTD: I’ll try to remember to link one up some time this week.

QOTD: It was when I had a Louis Bernard Cotes du Rhone villages 2004. I was already trying to expand my palate with wine. I knew that I liked certain ones, but wasn’t sure why exactly. Then I tasted chocolate in that wine. It was amazing that I could pick it out and I wanted to find more wines like that. It wasn’t until a couple of years l8er that I finally had enough sense to look up wines and see what the tasting notes were. From that I had learned that I could expand my palate by trying to find the flavors and smells noted. Today, I don’t read the tasting notes until afterward, if at all, because I’m comfortable with my palate.

Lovely show. Steve seems like such a nice, enthusiastic guy.
QOTD: I suppose I’ve just been plugging along drinking wine for awhile trying whatever new wines I can and enjoying wine more and more. WineLibrary opened my wine world quite a bit and I pick up different things here and there from blogs and seminars and tastings. I did have an epiphany type experience with wine, but it was sort of a meditative mind-altering experience, I’ve never experienced it again, and I don’t know that it changed my attitude toward wine, but it did leave some very good memories.

The future of wine tasting?! I still drink mine out of a glass. But oddly enough, my “epiphany” moment was really the first wine I ever remember drinking and liking wine. It was a marques de caceres back in probably 1995, drank out of the bottle while walking through the rainy woods in New Hampshire freshman year in college. Sorry I missed the tasting at Changing Hands GV- some jackass hit me with his car while I was on my bike last wednesday, and I’m still recovering to say the least.

Really tired after a long day but had to comment on this on. Great Bloke for a guest! Really liked the energy of the show, the pace, the stripped down version. Loved how he called you out on the sign off for the show (I missed it too).

AOTD: I’ll hug all of my fellow firefighters tomorrow morning and I’ll have to hear about all day long but their family…

QOFD: Wine tasting in Napa with a 2000 Duckhorn Cab. Haven’t look back since.
