Now we all love Gary and we love the show, but this guest was just too starstruck and psychophantic to do himself justice. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he seemed a whisker away from wanking GV off…and that is an image I’m desperately trying to erase from my mind!

    My wine moment was probably back in 91 or so when I ordered a Gigondas randomly at a French restaurant — they were out and substituted a Rasteau from the rhone — in retrospect, that wine was probably nothing terribly special, but it was an ahah moment for the 20-something me….

    QOTD: Hmmm, I’ve had some of those epiphany moments for various things where it just all seemed to “click” and it’s almost an out of body experience. It’s almost addicitive and you search for more and more of them.

    I was at Gibbston two years ago. I was able to taste a pinot from ’88 I believe. It was pretty exceptional. Their wines age very well. They also make a very nice Riesling.
