QOTD: OMG!, way too thrifty (cheap) to drink in an airport as a rule:) Used to have a tradition of having a fru-fru drink when we hit Honolulu on our way to Kauai.

QOTD: I think that my favorite was with a few dudes on our way back from Barbados. We stoped my Chili’s in Miami and had Margarita’s. Just a fun time with a delicious beverage.

I usually drink Bloody Mary’s in airports. Wine selections are rarely worth drinking, much less paying for.

QOTD: omg! I cant remember WHAT wine I was drinking..it was red..it was good..and my friend & I nearly missed a connecting flight to San Diego! We had one of those airport carts drive us to the gate.. I hailed it, like any NY’er would hail a taxi!! LOL I was praying that IF we made it to the gate on time, that we would be allowed to board..we were clearly more than buzzed. We just made it, and they DID let us board… The flight attendant whispered..”no alcohol, ok guys?” LOL No problem, we were asleep..out cold 20 minutes later!

Thanks Derek, glad you liked the camerawork. Had a little fun with it while the good Dr stopped by 😉 Larry, I actually knew about the wine tasting bar but we just didn’t have time to make it there before the next flight. We actually got reprimanded for showing up so late in the boarding process!

QOTD: I’m usually not in the mood for wine at an airport. I know you’ve talked a lot about mood and setting impacting the wine experience, and I find I’m typically too stressed or anxious at airports to enjoy wine. Anyways, the last wine I tasted at an airport was a Chardonnay and it was too oaked for my taste, and slightly lacking in acidity. Not a great bottle, but again, I probably wasn’t in a great mood.

If possible, try a Montepulciano Abruzzo next time. Should blend well with the nuggets and at a low price to match the meal.

I only fly about twice a year. Home to Boston after bringing Dad’s van to FLA for him to have. Then to Orlando to drive it back. As bad as bad a wrap as they might get, I’m a sucker for 2 or 3 of those little airline bottles of wine. I tell the flight attendant to “surprise me” as I enjoy any wine. Good customer, eh? I still enjoy a few pre-flight double screwdrivers though, some traditions you have to keep!
