So good to have you back. Great show, I’ll have to find a couple of these guys.

For your b-day, how about a big “atta boy!!”, for doing so well with your book.

I am a new convert to WLTV and in a short week its safe to say a “Vayniac”! I love your show Gary and your enthusiasm for wine and for life, we are a lot alike. I discovered you by accident while in my friend Howard’s cellar when I spotted a beautiful orange marmelade coloured half bottle of 1990 Ch de Fargues Sauternes. I talked him into opening it on the spot with some stinky stilton cheese and it was to say the least a pivotal wine. Googled the wine and fell on to your site, the Ch de Fargues episode, great episode. Then read about you making the top 40 in Decanter, then Howard gave me Erik Asimov’s article on you and Jancis meeting, “Helen Mirin meets Dog the Bounty Hunter”. Totally untrue, you were a total gentleman and I think she had more fun than she would admit.
I got into wine 6 years ago and it’s safe to say I have been hooked on learning everything I can about it and to try as many grape varieties and explore as many terroirs as possible. A life long addiction to maps and places and travel has been supplemented by wine. 2 years ago I built a cellar and although Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson, Hugh Johnson, Gambero Rosso and Decanter mag have had huge impacts on me, I keep coming back to The Cook’s Encyclopedia of Wine by Stuart Walton which has encouraged me to fill my cellar with wine from all over the world. I am a huge fan of Italian whites and I have only had 2 Falanghinas in my life, the first at a restaurant that blew me away, the 2nd at home that was not so good. I live in North Bay, Ontario and althought the LCBO is one of the largest wine buyers in the world, can you believe they currently only have 1 Falanghina in the province of Ontario and no Greco Di Tufo or Fiano and only one Tocai Friuliano. Can Canadians order wine from the US or from you?
I go on to long here, sorry, future communications will be brief, but I am hooked watching 10 episodes every evening and forcing myself to bed so I can work the next day. So far have loved all the episodes but favourites include Jancis robinson, the Pecorino episode, have some on order, the Viognier episode, Albarino episode, Dolcetto, Lagrein which I have had one only in my life and loved it,Aglianico,Alentjo, Greco di Tufo, Gruner Veltliner and of course the interview with the Great One, number 99. Ontario best variety is Riesling, mostly in the Mosel style, my favourite style, but also doing great acidic Chard and surprisingly good Cab Francs, try Vineland Estate for great value wine, medium to large sized winery but superb. The best winery that I have found so far in Canada and I have tried a lot as of course I am patriotic is from Okanagan and it is Joie Winery. If you can get your hands on any of the wines, they only do whites and one Rose and one red you will not be disappointed, especially the 2008 Noble Blend White $34, a Okanagan meets Alsace play, one of the most food friendly wines going. Would make a great show but I have no idea how hard these wines are to get in the US and not exactly cheap. I rant to long but will continue to follow your show and would love to meet you someday. Thanks for the passion. Joel

I will not be just lurker. Nothing to really say about the wines today. But I’m glad your back, the book is success, and blessings are going your way. You’re helping so many people on a day to day basis you deserve all the success you have. Stay focused and stay humble and nothing but good things will come.
