90/100

lines of the day – ‘this really does smell like a sheep pooped in your nose’ and ‘I feel like “my tummy’s burning” like Ralph on the Simpsons’

Another winner, GV really on point during these back-to-back taped episodes. Mott looking for the correct response at the end and floundering as usual

mm, zin! We love Dry Creek Valley zins…and we’re headed to Healdsburg on Sunday. Our faves include Talty, Quivira, Camellia for value, Papapietro Perry when we can splurge, Forchini, Stryker (ok that’s Alexander Valley but close enough). Anything Rockpile is bound to be tasty.

QOTD: The hubby and I are heading to Kauai for Thanksgiving and bringing along a box (!) of Wurtz Riesling and some bottles of whatever we pick up this weekend.

QOTD: I’m spending it with a great friend (room mate) and family (not immediate, but first cousin). Here are some likely candidates from what I already have…
    ***2002 Argyle Brut
***2007 Domaine Mas du Bouquet Vaqueras

Nice show, glad to see you taste the Seghesio. It’s always staring at me in the store. Your review sums up what my guess was….a good wine but not great enough for me to shell out $30.

QOTD: Staying home with our 1-month old, will have dinner with my wife’s family who are local. Probably going to expand the palate and try some Lambrusco with that dinner.

Also, the weekend before will be having a “Friends Thanksgiving” potluck style with 3 other couples. Thinking of making a honey-brined Turkey. Any suggestions for a wine to go with that?

Gary, Thanks for the great descriptors! I’m going to quote you each time I pour the wine. Very happy you enjoyed the Rockpile!

We’re hosting at our home here at our San Lorenzo vineyard. Drinking Rockpile, Old Vine and Barbera from the cellar. Moscato to start the day . . . makes the cooking more fun!

    Salute!

QOTD – I am heading to Spain for Thanksgiving with friends. I will be trying lots of Spanish wine while there. I am not a big sherry drinker, but we are going to Jerez to taste sherry and understand more about it. Have a happy one.

QOTD – Headed to my parents in Auburn NY for a family gathering. I’ll be providing the wine for dinner. Haven’t determined the specific wines yet, but I’m leaning towards Oregon pinot noir, Australian sparkling shiraz, Finger Lakes riesling.

I’m really glad Gary liked the Seghesio Zinfandel! I fell in love with that wine last year and have been on the lookout for it ever since.

I am going to St. Joseph, Missouri to visit my family. My parents are not very interested in wine (2 buck chuck being their bottle of choice) so I’m bringing a grocery store Australian red (Little Penguin Pinot Noir) as a compromise of super cheap and reasonably tasty.

QOTD – Going to Vegas (baby). Wife’s family is all gathering there. Very excited because our hosts are huge wine fans. Redirecting my Les Chenes (Livermore) Fall club shipment there (since no shipments to NJ). As I understand it, includes some Syrah and Rousanne (sp?). Typically pretty old world and wonderful!

qotd: gonna be w family at my g-ma’s house. she loves white zin, which I wont buy. So i’m gonna bring a valdiguie from California. Just about the lightest fruitiest lowest tannin red you can find. Think a beaujolais nouveau, but alot better, yet still around $9-10. I’m bringin a nice German riesling too.
