Gary,I’m relatively new to WLTV and have been searching your past episodes. I came across your Bordeaux tasting (episode 504) in which you tried the ’88 Latour. You said that it was a real “cliff wine”. I have not had the ’88 vintage but I did have the 1979 last weekend and experienced the same sensation. Do you feel that this is a weakness in Latour or is it merely a coincidence? This was my first premier cru and it has made me question if they should be commanding the prices they do.

I have a bottle of that first Chateauneuf-du-pap in the 2004 vintage. Maybe I’ll go with that this Thanksgiving. Nice laid back show.

Chateau Beaucastel was pouring ’07 at the New York Wine Experience. In a room featuring Latour, Haut Brion, Sassicaia, Gaja, Chapoutier, Harlan, Torbreck, etc…the 2007 Chateau Beaucastel was a real standout.

I’ll have to check the vintage on the one CdP we carry, but even if it’s an ’07 at $20, most of my regulars ain’t gonna buy it. It’s yummy and delicious, but under $15 is the majority’s comfort level. Oh well, more for me once more income happens.
