lines of the day – ‘you’re the first guest to make Mott laugh’ and ‘I saw bubbles, I couldn’t control myself’

Great show, loved the guest; really funny, laid back and straight up said what she thought.

  • Great episode Gary! But there isn’t enough comment love on this one. Come on people, step it up. Don’t be shy.

QOTD: The most important part is that everyone feels like belong. The party should be designed so that everyone feels like the party was tailored to them and they are meant to be there. That way, everyone not only has a good time, they have an amazing time. When thinking up food, or activities, or whatever, make sure to keep ALL of your guests in mind. That way everyone can walk away with the same great experience.

  • Most important part is the people. All else flows from there and I have read Crushit but can’t incorporate any of it into my business as we are not allowed to maintain business related blogs in my practice. Drinking more Cava now as the price is right. Keep reviewing more 07 Cote du Rhones as these will be a big play for the next two years.

NIce show. Hell of a train wreck on that first wine, but what a delightful guest.

Nice fun episode. I have a bottle of cava at home, that I keep wanting to drink, but keep hitting that pitfall of it should be for celebration.

QOTD: Atmosphere. One of the best parties I have been too was just the atmospshere of the place. I didnt even know the host or even talked to them.

    GV,

Smart move in rejecting the first QOTD. You were going to get blasted for sure. Nice show though. I like having ordinary people on once in awhile to represent the average folk. Makes me feel better about not being able to taste the rubber bands with cinnamon. Def going to pick up some 2007 rhones and some cava. I’m overstalked on the monsters and need some mid-week wine.

QOTD: Depends on the party, but I’m all about the music and of course the booze. Before having a wife and baby I would’ve said something way different…fellas…you know what I’m talking about!

QOTD I know this is not common, but for all fellow agoraphobics, the best thing of a party is when it’s over.

  • I read some of the comments above me and I just don’t agree. The guest seemed nice enough but added absolutely nothing to the show. So boring.

Fun show, but it did seem like you were touching your guest an awful lot. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

QOTD: 20 years ago, the most important part of a party was how cute the girls were. Today, the most important part of a party is how cute the girls are.

    qotd:

As varied that parties can be, the environment is the key that not only defines the event but also frames enjoyment. Broad as it may be, an environment is the composite of people, place(s), entertainment, libations, etc. As party planning is a sort of projecting what balancing act of all these components need be done, I would agree that hospitality is important- as it styles heavily the balance’s success or failure. First impressions are, for good or bad, very powerful. A welcoming environment is inviting and since invitations are what the guests’ received, let them not be disappointed.

The most important party quality is safety. I do not believe this to be inherent with hospitality- and perhaps it goes without saying; but, I firmly believe any fear or danger has no last place in healthy celebrations.

Ms. Bloom- Good luck to you, I hope your calendar fills as you so desire.

First of all, I really liked your guest today. I know I?ve said that I prefer the classic episodes without guests, but that?s not true. There have been several guest episodes that have been among my favourites, so I spoke without thinking.

Secondly, I disagree with Marcy Bloom?s answer to her own QOTD. I think the most important element for a good party is that everyone clicks together.

Thirdly, my parents came from the Ukraine, and we had ?kompot? too. There?s a difference between ?kompot?, which is a fruit punch made out of fresh fruit, like you said, and a fruit soup, which I didn?t realize came from Germany. A lot of our stuff (Ukrainian) has its roots in Germany, which I know because the names for these things stayed German. Anyway, my mother made soup in the summer out of cherries and other things. Delicious!
