QOTD: It seems like you can’t categorize Korean food into OW or NW because they don’t make wine over there… But Arab cuisine belongs to “Old World,” right? I mean, it’s all part of the Mediterranean food culture, so I guess it qualifies.

I fell in love with Arab cuisine while living and traveling for a year in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon not so long ago. Most people there don’t drink wine for religious reasons, but actually a lot of their food pairs fantastically with wine. I would suggest a Bordeaux or a Rhone red to go with roast lamb ribs or other meaty Jordanian fares, and a creamy, full-bodied chardonnay for Lebanese mezzehs (a platter of appetizers consisting of various different types of salads, pastries, hummus, felafel and other delightful side dishes).

Yeah, Jets! QOTD1 – Watched this after watching the game… QOTD2 – Does Cajun/Creole count even though they’re not geographically old world? It’s just that the aesthetic of both is soooooooo old world. If not, then my second choice would be coastal Spanish…stinky little fish, canned clams, funky cheese, and skunky veggies…everything good worth eating!
