I’ve been purchasing the Buehler Cabs for a long time and the most expensive they’ve been were mid 20’s. Excellent value, very well-made wine tastes like a $40-$50 Cab. Would like to taste their Chardonnay. Helen made a good choice in going back to the family business.

Doesn’t like San Francisco or Paris? Hmmmm. To each their own, but I tuned her out at that point as such a generalized opinion about two very complex cities is ridiculous. Does not know price of wines? Dullest guest ever. How could you say you will be making wines soon when you provide no significant output about what you smell and taste in the wines you try? I’m being a little harsh b/c she is young; let’s cellar her for 10 years and then maybe she will be an interesting guest. I give this episode a major pass.

Not a bad show, Helen is one of those delicate beauties that is rare to find now a days. However, have to comment on the “I don?t pay for wine” (like the rest of you peeons) comment. Despite his grotesquely offensive name, I have to agree with Yankee22. She did not seem to have any interest in breaking down any components which we nerds love to do so much. As you say Gary, I suppose the important thing is she likes it, but still if she wants to make wine she?s going to have to learn how to play the game. Free SO2, Bound SO2, TA, VA PH, we need to tattoo these on her forearm.

This is the first show in awhile that I read almost all the comments….they all are very interesting. GV you were very kind with your evaluations…but I think she needs to do her homework. You tried not to make her look like a doe in the headlights and great interviewing skills for trying to draw her out.

This is what makes me so mad sometimes…she’s born into this world that I am struggling to get into as hundreds others are. All of my self taught lessons vs. being born in the right family. I feel for her cuz we are honest in the vaynernation so this might just be a slap in the face but if you want to roll with the big dogs you gotta bring your game!!! Unfortunately I will not even attempt to search these wines….

Well, Gary, that was a different show. Different setting. I have to admit that the first look at Helen was not bad at all. But that was just the first look. From the first words she said, I knew this episode was going to be boring, despite your efforts. And, it was.
Please, invite next time someone who can talk on wine and not someone who can just drink it. Yankee22 is right. Cellar her for at least 10 year.

UC Davis like so many other 2nd generation vintners.
At least there she can learn her Wine ABC’s and 123’s, educate her palate and practice her public realtions skills. I’m not sure what Dad was thinking sending her out as a Sales Rep when she can’t speak the lingo and doesn’t know the price points. A pretty face can help, but it ain’t everything.

One of the weakest shows in recent months.

It’s always one or the other. Why can’t cute/hot girls be smart? Brutal. She seemed so nice, which is great and all, but not even knowing the retail of her own family’s wines??? And she reps them? Wow.

I guess that’s classic Napa. All make-up. Head out to WA and meet some young industry peeps that know their s***.

Wow – some nasty comments in here. Can’t say I disagree though. Yankee22 has it right – she needs a few years in teh cellar and imho – a bit of a reality check. I hope the comments we vayniaks have posted will inspire her to roll up here sleeves and get to work on appreciating how fortunate she is to be in the business and the family she is in rather than all the free wine.

To each his/her own though – some people loved it when Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah’s couch… I thought it proved what a douchebag he really is.

Let me know when your 23 year old daughters are interviewed on TV for the first time, fresh out of college so I can rip them apart. Of our four children Helen was the only one available to travel to New York. The others are either working at the winery or busy with new babies. You are all pathetic wine groupies.

Not gonna pile on to those comments left. Ouch.

I think some of you are too hard on her – Sure she doesn’t bring much to the party (except for the free wine) but don’t diss her for the Paris and San Fran comment. She went to university in both places so she probably has a good reason. So she doesn’t know the retail on a family friend’s wine. She’s not repping it. (And I see the Reynoso Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc goes for around $11 so good call Gary) Most people aren’t like us who hang out here. She likes what she likes even if she can’t yet put a finger on the exact flavor component. Most people are the same and enjoy things just because they like it. She can’t stay at that level of course if she really wants to make it in the industry.

She DOES need some time and experience. So give it to her and she might overcome the objections.

Sad!!! Just…very sad! I don’t know what to say really. Ummmm…wellll! You know I?ll kinda like will, umm just like not leave a comment you know! Like you know!! Gosh OMG nevr mind…I have to!!!!

Second, I am very glad this was not my first encounter with WLTV; otherwise, I would have NEVER come back for seconds.

Gary?please! I’d rather wait a few days, to see a real show, than you putting this **** together. I mean come on nowww!! I come here for perspective and sometimes, instruction, it does not need to be uptight and serious, but it should be some what enlightning. Otherwise come to Tampa and do a show in Mons Venus and pick a hotter girl, in fewer clothes, that also does not know ANYTHING about wine.

Please brother, if you just want a couple of free meals at the freaking place, just advertise a couple of times, we won’t mind. Just don’t waste a show man, come onnnn brother!!! Life is too short and there are too many wines that are actually worth the price of admission.

My two cents is: THIS IS A FREE SHOW PUT ON BY GARY. Where are all the comments when the shows are awesome?? We’re being entertained and educated for free and some people don’t seem to appreciate that.

Great Show Gary. Clarification though. Looking online, I noticed that Bueler sells an estate cab and a non-estate cab. Which were you tasting? The estate wine seems to sell for about $30 and the non-estate for $20.

For everyone who said she’s too young: you all realize that by criticizing her age you open yourselves to the critique that you’re all a bunch of old timer curmudgeon has-been blowhards who have been in the cellar so long you don’t remember so long you don’t remember what the sun looks like. I don’t enjoy getting this nasty, but if you all are going there, than I’ll meet you on your terms with a comment about your age. Don’t blame me — you started it.
