Of course. Here in Montreal. YES

  • DPnCali

Hey Dominus, how worried are you about Freeney man? I gotta be honest, I'm a little worried about that situation. If he can't go the whole game, hopefully he can go on obvious passing situations and still be effective.

And on a side note GV, heard to day that your boy Sanchez is gonna have knee surgery. You worried about that?

  • Hated the intro…LOL…leave well alone I always say.

    Loved the blind pinot show!!

QOTD: I think you know my answer to that 😉

  • SamKw

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But instead of Burgundy (on which GV has done plenty of shows), something less well-known like a Sancerre Rouge or an Alsatian PN would have been nice to see.

  • Anonymous

No wonder you got socks. No slurping in public! 🙂

  • DPnCali

HaHa, Is there any question who I'm rooting for?! 😛

  • QOTD: Audiobook. Although I'm glad you warn against CA, I'm glad they finally made a showing.

  • kylemittskus

Nope. I have no interest in entrepreneurship.

    Great show, though.

  • Ronc

    Good show.
I agree with you on the Valli Gibbston Pinot Noir. I purchased 3 bottles of it from CW and was very disappointed. Guess I'm not an old world Pinot fan. I was hoping it was as good as the 2005 Amisfield Pinot Noir Central Otago of which I'm down to my last bottle.

QOTD: Didnt buy your book. Bought a bottle of Quiteria Loma Gorda instead.

  • elaineegan

I think you are right about the screw top. I have never been a fan and do think it has serious impact on the wine long term. It would be cool to have a show with a blind cork vs, screw top tasking. Think about it.

  • FingerLakesRVResort

    QOTD: Yes

  • Seston

yes, i have not finsihed it though. im a sloooow reader

  • Yes I picked up the book and on chapter 12.

  • Yes I picked up the book and I am on chapter 12.

  • My man DP, it is bothersome hearing Freeney may not play since we need to put the pressure on Brees. What is most disconcerting is Freeney was hurt in the final two minutes of our shelacking . . . oops, of the Jets game.

Personally, I think he plays in 3rd down situations, minimum.

If not, like Manning says, someone needs to “pick up the sword.”

  • I'm having a Trimbach (Alsace) Pinot right now (no oak) that is really, really good.

  • plcb

I love pinot noir. PA just got some Siduri at the “Chairman's” price. And I found the Black Kite pinot noir at a PA wine shop!!!!!!!!!!!

    QOTD: No

  • NIB

So yeah, Cali definitely ruled the day…but for 67 bones it better lol. Overall, I find that the QPR for Pinot Noir is not very good, love the wine, hate the price.

QOTD:Bought the book, read the book, gave the book to a friend, didn't get it back, bought another one, gave that one away…….I now own my third copy. I think my friends loved your book, I know I did.

  • Andrew D

    Hey Gary

Good show thanks – love the efficiency of it. Surely the cork can't have any effect???

QOTD: Sorry no … it didn't make it to Hong Kong

    Cheers
    Andrew

  • CBone

Great results! I think the last blind Pinot Noir tasting you had California came in first as well (I think it was a Sojourn Cellars). I'm just saying…I think you are too harsh on California sometimes! I liked this show.

Ever think about going to the window background again?

QOTD: I did not buy Crush It. I bought 101 Wines though, and I actually had you sign it, when you came to a DC (well, Rockville MD) Barnes and Noble a while back.

PS I'm right now drinking the Les Royes Saint Joseph you reviewed the other day. Delicious!

  • yacoub

QOTD: Nope, didn't pick it up. Sorry GV.

  • DKBTex

Good show GV and Mott… I like the blinds!!!!!
QOTD: Yes… Great book… If you every come close to me in TX I will get you to sign it…

Love the blind shows. I just wish I could get more of the wines you taste here in the Atlanta area. Maybe one day Wine Library will be able to ship to Georgia.
QOTD: Yes I picked up my copy of the book during your book tour. And to top it off while I was standing in line to get my book autographed and my picture with Gary, I signed up for a drawing for $500 Cost Plus World Market gift card they gave away at the event. Well, guess what! I won and I promptly bought several bottles of wine! Thank you Gary! I owe it all to you!

  • SilverHammer

    Gary – Great show – confession: I'm a lurker
    3- no 4 comments:
    1) You gotta use the right glass for pinot to really get the full effect
    2) No – have not bought your book
    3) Come on – 3 days! I toss wine after 2
4 ) You gotta try some 2007 Chasseur Pinot – Blank vinyard or Freestone station – the best I've ever had.

Keep 'em comin' – a sad Vikings fan.

  • Phredd3

Love the blind shows. Disappointed to see the Valli – which I have in my cellar, but haven't yet popped – do so poorly. I was saving it, but maybe I shouldn't. On the other hand, you were the outlier amoung the reviews, so maybe I'll like it. Anyway, this show makes the process more interesting.

QOTD: Yes. I confess that I was slightly disappointed. Good ideas, but not enough of them and not developed enough. I'm a guy who reads history books for fun, so I expect a lot of density when I read. Your book pretty much floated. Many, many people clearly disagree, though, so different strokes for different folks. I do enjoy the fact that I have a signed copy.

Silver…I am another sad Vikes fan. So what do you think…..will the silver fox come back next year?

  • mrpres1776

Great Show GV – – I love the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, too…

QOTD – Yes, I'm 'Crushing It'! Got your book way back the week of release.

  • Phredd3

I'm afraid I don't understand this analogy at all. Blind tasting is to wine what necking in the dark is to love.

  • SilverHammer

He got the crap beat outta him and just don't think he'll forget the pain. No – he won't be back.

  • laroob

Picked up Crush It at the SD wine meet up.

  • howitzer

I'm afraid you might be right be right….so then what they do about a quarterback? TJack, Sage, Donavan???

  • Mannyn

    great show!!!

QOTD: whats crush it……just jk but no i didnt get it

  • MIchael C in MKE

New Zealand Pinot Noir's are OVER RATED. Sorry NZ

QOTD: I read a little that a friend had forwarded to me. Looked pretty good. Haven't gotten it yet.

  • cbleary

I'm glad to see California show so well. I've always favored California Pinot Noir over its new world competitors.

    QOTD: No.

  • Nice show GV

QOTD: Yep. Though I'll be honest, social media is not my thing as far as profession is concerned. I do tweet for work, but in my target profession you don't get extra points for having a personal brand. My coworker is reading your book and says he digs it, though.

  • Steve_T

qotd: No, although I did buy thefirst book.
    Love the blind tastings.

  • benkearney

    Chalkboard QOTD: @benkearney

Three days open is way too long to draw any valid comparison.

QOTD…. have not bought book yet, I will though after I'm done reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, which is AWESOME and a great book about the nature of success without being life coachy or self helpy in any way whatsoever
